This health fair was a great opportunity to meet and talk with all the folks representing services available to our East County residents. I learned a lot and hope to share with others I meet as they may get the word out to those whom these folks serve. And first I heard of them, a health library near Grossmont hospital that individuals can read, research and delve into subjects that impact health. (I am going to check into research on arthritis as this has personal importance to me.)

In the healthcare field, particularly to obtain certification as a Nurse Assistant in the state of California, the single most important document a person must possess, is a Social Security card or an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN). The second is a current (not expired) form of picture identication issued by a US government, State or territory.

Though common today, no image stored on a cell phone nor a copy, presented but any person who does not present the mandated identity forms will be able to take the certification test.
Note: an ITIN is NOT the same as a person's tax return.
