Day 1 of the Salkantay Trek. 🇵🇪🥾
It’s funny what our minds do before we take on something big.
We prepare. We train. We make the plans. And then, as the moment gets closer, the doubts start creeping in.
Am I ready for this?
Did I train enough?
What if it’s harder than I expect?
And then sometimes you take that first step anyway—and a few hours later, you find yourself standing somewhere that reminds you exactly why you came.
Today we hiked to Sky Camp at 12,795 feet (3,900 m), took a little time to rest, and then climbed higher to Humantay Lake at 13,780 feet (4,200 m).
And wow.
Turquoise water. Glaciers. Huge Andean peaks rising around us. One of those places that almost doesn’t look real, even when you’re standing right in the middle of it.
All that anticipation. All those little doubts.
And suddenly I was exactly where I needed to be.
Not because the doubts disappeared before I started.
Because I started anyway.
