Are you aware of the materials that are used to manufacture your yoga mat? If not, then it is about time for you to find out.
Most of us bought a mat or more to use it at home for yoga or other daily workouts.
We focus on the color, style, and price when shopping for our first or second yoga mat. However, after prolonged use, you may find that some mats can not support your exercise routine. They even easily slip on floors at home.
I did a lot of research, including PVC, NBR, EVA, TPE, CORK, Rubber mats, etc.
PVC mats are one of the most common types of mats on the market. It's also relatively affordable, making it a good option for someone just starting out in their practice. But PVC mats have certain disadvantages which are very important to keep in mind. Specifically, PVC mats are not recyclable. When they are burned down, toxic chemicals can be released into the air.
Cork TPE Yoga Mats are more friendly for beginners. They are natural, eco-friendly, and biodegradable, and also won't break the bank. Nor does one need to cut down a tree when producing.
Natural rubber yoga mats are top-notch mats, but should not be used by people with latex allergies. Many yogis choose natural rubber mats for their natural, eco-friendly, high performance, better support, and softness. Natural rubber yoga mats will also be more expensive.
I would recommend that you buy environmentally friendly yoga mats, such as cork or rubber. They will help you be more sustainable and show your support for the environment.
