PrintReleaf

PrintReleaf The patented technology not only measures consumption, but tracks its reforestation partners to ensure fulfillment.

We offer automated, certified reforestation and carbon offsets in the equivalence of your forest impact, i.e., paper and fiber-based materials consumption, where the planet needs it most. Creating a global standard for sustainable forest product consumption, PrintReleaf guarantees to certifiably releaf all paper products consumed by its customers. Founded in 2011 by MPS industry veterans, the Prin

tReleaf Exchange [PRX] is the first technology platform that measures a customer's paper consumption and connects them directly to reforestation projects.

When are your trees actually planted? 🌲

Tree planting depends on far more than simply putting seedlings in the ground.

Projects are carefully timed around rainy seasons, nursery coordination, regional climate conditions, and long-term survival planning.

So while trees aren’t necessarily going in the ground right as you hit print, rest assured the trees required to be planted either a year after a certificate is issued or a year prior.

This allows for practical operating flexibility and optimization for the prime planting season each year. 🌱

Not every forestry project meets the standard.

PrintReleaf selects forestry partners based on ecological expertise and long-term impact.

Projects must align with the PrintReleaf Standard and prioritize:
🌱 Native ecosystem restoration
🌎 Biodiversity
📊 Long-term monitoring
🤝 Community outcomes

In addition, partners must demonstrate transparency in reporting and the ability to monitor tree survival over time. This approach ensures that customer contributions support credible, science-based reforestation projects.

Restoring forests in Romania means rebuilding landscapes impacted by years of environmental stress and severe windthrow damage. 🌲

In the Harghita region of Transylvania, this reforestation project is helping restore native forest ecosystems through carefully selected species designed to support biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and improve long-term forest health.

As part of PrintReleaf’s growing network of reforestation projects, efforts like this help create measurable environmental impact where restoration is needed most.

Endangered Species Day is a reminder that restoring forests means restoring habitats, too. 🌎🦉

Across PrintReleaf reforestation projects, ecosystem restoration helps support the habitats that vulnerable species depend on — from spotted owls in Northern California to wildlife living within longleaf pine ecosystems in the southeastern United States.

Every tree planted is part of something larger: healthier habitats, stronger ecosystems, and a more resilient future for wildlife around the world. 🌱

You may have noticed we use the term “standard tree” when we're talking about trees. What exactly is a “standard tree”?

A “standard tree” is a standardized unit of measurement for forest biomass. It represents a tree equivalent that reaches approximately:
🌲 40 feet tall
🌲 7 inches in trunk diameter

Using standard trees helps ensure environmental impact is measured consistently across different species, sizes, and ecosystems. 📏

Sustainable print is evolving beyond responsible sourcing alone.

As climate commitments and sustainability expectations continue to grow, many printers and packaging companies are looking for ways to create measurable environmental impact — not just reduce harm.

That’s where reforestation comes in. 🌲

By connecting paper and fiber consumption directly to certified restoration projects, businesses can support biodiversity, rebuild ecosystems, and contribute to long-term forest resilience.

This Clean Air Month, we’re giving credit where it’s due: forests. 🌲

Forests are one of the planet’s most effective air filtration systems. 🌎 They absorb carbon dioxide, help trap airborne pollutants, and support healthier ecosystems around the world.

Which is why reforestation creates impact far beyond the forest floor.

Planting trees ≠ reforestation. 🌲

Planting trees is exactly what it sounds like: putting trees in the ground. It can happen anywhere, for many reasons (landscaping, urban greening, small projects), and doesn’t necessarily consider long-term ecosystem outcomes.

Reforestation, on the other hand, is a scientific, ecosystem-driven process. It focuses on restoring forests in areas where they previously existed, with attention to: native species selection, biodiversity and habitat restoration and conservation, long-term survival and forest health, appropriate geography and climate conditions.

Planting trees is an activity. Reforestation is an outcome. This distinction is important because not all tree planting leads to healthy forests, but reforestation, when done correctly, is designed to. 🙌🌲
