Today we got a visit by this beautiful art deco Spirit Engineering SE-1 LSA Aircraft that flew in from Grand Junction CO. Apparently somebody from Spirit Engineering is being interviewed at the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.

One of Journeys goals since 2018 was to find ways to make aviation more sustainable at the Boulder Airport, KBDU. This week we've taken a big step in that direction by brining in unleaded UL94 aviation gasoline (avgas) to KBDU. On top of acquiring two Light Sport training aircraft a couple of years ago, the unleaded fuel helps Journeys and the Boulder aviation stakeholders address community concerns about the use of leaded fuel, noise, and our carbon footprint in general.

About 70% of the GA fleet of piston powered aircraft can use this fuel, and Journeys will be using it in 90% of our training fleet, and 100% of our glider tow planes.

CDOT is subsidizing the fuel allowing UL94 to be offered at the same price as 100LL delivered from the truck (sorry, we need another tank to offer UL94 self serve).

If you want to use UL94 in your aircraft, you must get the STC from Swift Fuels. Please check that your aircraft / engine is eligible for the STC at swiftfuelsavgas.com/stc. STCs purchased now for UL94 will also apply to Swift Fuels 100R unleaded fuel when it gets final approval, hopefully later this year.

The City of Boulder is reimbursing KBDU based aircraft for the $100 purchase of the STCs required for your aircraft to use the fuel, just submit your receipt to the Airport Management.

Boulder Airport Day is Tomorrow, June 6th, 8am to 3pm. Drop by the airport to see some unusual aircraft including an electric Pipistrel, vintage aircraft, and more. Pancakes for breakfast, or burgers for lunch will be available for a small donation to EAA 1627.

Also check out the latest on the status of the airport at Save Boulder Airport

Good news! At Thursday evening’s Study Session, Boulder City Council held an informal 5-4 vote in support of the Boulder Municipal Airport, allowing the City Manager to apply and receive FAA and State of Colorado funding. Council also said that they will reinforce this vote in the near future with...

Coming soon to the Journeys Aviation fleet, Cessna 182-A, N4790D, one of the nicest 1958 aircraft you will ever see. This aircraft has been updated in many ways and now boats a nice Garmin panel including Dual G5s PFD/MFD, GMA-345, GNC-355, GNC-215, GFC-500, GI-275 EIS, which makes N4790D Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) Qualified. This will be a great aircraft for instrument training, and mountain flying training, and will be very attractively priced for the next couple of months. Better photos coming soon!
