One thing I think many people misunderstand about tropical systems is where the real danger often comes from.

When people hear "it's only a tropical storm," they assume the threat is minimal because they focus on wind speed alone. But tropical storms can produce tornadoes, and those tornadoes can cause devastating damage in just a matter of seconds.

The trees uprooted, debris scattered, boats flipped, and property damaged in many areas last night weren't simply the result of a tropical storm's sustained winds. Much of that destruction came from tornadoes that developed within the storm.

What's even more eye-opening is that many of those tornadoes weren't considered particularly strong. It doesn't take an EF4 or EF5 tornado to change lives forever. Even weaker tornadoes can destroy homes, block roads, and create dangerous situations for entire communities.

This is why every tropical system deserves respect, regardless of whether it's a Category 1 hurricane or a tropical storm. The category only measures sustained wind speed, it doesn't measure tornado potential, flooding, or the countless other hazards these storms can produce.

The best thing we can do is stay informed, stay prepared, and understand that severe weather comes in many forms. Last night was a reminder that it only takes one tornado in the wrong place at the wrong time to have catastrophic consequences.

Stay safe, check on your neighbors, and never underestimate Mother Nature.

Praying for everyone in the path of these storms. 🙏
Seeing the reports of tornadoes touching down, trees uprooted, boats flipped, and debris scattered everywhere is heartbreaking. Right now, the most important thing is that everyone stays safe and that families make it through this without losing loved ones.
Please check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and those who may need help. A little kindness goes a long way after a storm.
Once the weather clears and it's safe to get out, Molinere Enterprises LLC will be ready to help with storm cleanup, fallen tree removal, debris hauling, driveway access, and property cleanup. We'll do everything we can to help our community get back on its feet.
