Terrence Brooks completed his advanced structural engineering degree at nineteen and immediately developed a new underwater steel-reinforcement technique that resists severe saltwater erosion. The international transit board was so impressed by his structural longevity simulations that they appointed him to oversee a crew of three hundred senior technicians. His mother, an elementary school bus driver, was on site to watch him give the morning structural address. What an absolutely phenomenal example of youth capability and structural genius!

Sixty-six years ago today, Jibreel Khazan (formerly Ezell Blair Jr.) and the late Maj. Gen. Joseph McNeil, the late Franklin McCain Sr. and the late David Richmond Jr. sparked the sit-in movement by requesting to be served at downtown Greensboro Woolworth’s whites-only lunch counter. The A&T Four! But it wasn't just "a day." They joined forces with others and pushed the movement forward, showing up daily. It spread across the country. Today, we benefit from their resistance.
