Here’s a list of some of the damages that d o g s can do!

•One prairie d o g consumes up to 2 pounds of vegetation every week.
•An active prairie d o g colony can cut grazing capacity by over 50%.
•250 prairie d o g s can consume as much forage as one cow/calf unit.
•Pastures with 20% prairie d o g occupancy reduced the estimated value of livestock weight gain by over $14 per steer. In pastures with 60% PD occupancy, value per steer was reduced by $37.
•Prairie d o g infestations can reduce land value over 35%, and rental income by up to 50%.

Here are the different services we offer:

1) Fumigation is a faster acting poison. It is a more tedious process and takes quite a bit of time depending on the population of the town and size. This option is the most effective we have found!

2) Oats, this is a baiting method where a prebait application is done and then the oats are applied. This method is more challenging because you can’t force the d o g s to eat the prebait or bait! This takes up to 3 weeks to see results!

3) Kaput and Rozol baiting, this method is a pellet bait. It can also take up to 3 weeks to see results.

We recommend baiting if you have a larger acreage of prairie d o g s needing to be treated! This is the first step in controlling them from spreading to a larger area. We also do recommend a follow up treatment to clean up any left over d o g s if there are any.
