Spent the week in Denver for my first time at FPP IRL!

Fractional People People is probably my favorite online communities that I’ve been a part of a business owner.

FPP In Real Life was everything I could’ve hoped for - an opportunity to meet my peeps I’ve been chatting with for a year (some even TWO years) that I hadn’t met before, reflect on my own vision for the business and place in the fractional market, do some development on pieces of AlgoMasHR.

Create & Cultivate owes me NOTHING.

I came for the content and stayed for the networking. As an introvert and business owner, meeting people is a requirement and sometimes a challenge.

Their CONNECT app made it super easy to get matched with attendees of similar experiences, focus areas and goals. I scheduled 13 meetings between both days and made it to almost every session I’d planned for!

I’m thrilled to share I’ll be attending Create & Cultivate on Sept 19th & 20th in Los Angeles thanks to their Small Business Giveaway 🙏🏼

A few months ago, I was listening to the She’s So Lucky Podcast and one of the guests was Jaclyn Johnson the founder of Create & Cultivate. When you have a newborn there’s plenty of time for podcasts and audiobooks… and what I thought would be a missed opportunity thanks to .

The universe deemed otherwise with the announcement of the giveaway though so while I was bouncing the baby on my shoulder walking around Holistic Executive Suites trying to get him to nap, I typed and voice memo’d my submission.

Why is hiring so dang hard????

Too many applications. Too few applications. Clunky applications. False hope interviews (on both sides). Use of AI (on both sides). and much much more…

So what can you do?

Go back to THE GOLDEN CIRCLE. 🟡

THE WHY. Be clear with yourself on the real reason you need to hire this next role.

Sometimes founders/owners hire because they think that’ll fix process issues (tldr: it doesn’t). Are you expanding your capacity in a certain area (think client delivery, product manufacturing etc) or are there things you just don’t want to/shouldn’t be doing? You’ll need to adjust how you onboard the new hire accordingly.

THE HOW. Determine how this role’s success will be measured.

Accountability can feel impossible when it was never clear what data you need to use to define what good performance is. Is it quantified or is it qualitative?

THE WHAT. What do you need to have for the search? A clearly written and tailored job description AND set of interview questions. These cannot live only inside your brain! 🧠

These foundational elements are where every hiring process starts but so leaders many struggle.

Here’s a quick look at our NEW website that went live yesterday 🤩

As a business owner every expense matters. Like so many others, I started with my own website on Squarespace using my limited design capabilities. It got the job done and was a place for potential clients to see that I was “legit”.

Now, the AlgoMasHR website will be hub of accessible information from how to learn about our services to finding upcoming workshop and event details to hosting free and paid resources directly on the site.

Our main goal is to be your strategic HR partner and this new site will allow us to serve the community more effectively.
