Bathrooms account for roughly 80% of senior home falls - The National Institute on Aging.

My client, fiercely independent at 99 yrs old when I first met her, was so resistant to installing grab bars in her shower, using a shower chair or using a commode over the toilet to create more height for safety with transfers. She was also opposed to the idea of supervision with transfers getting in and out of the shower or assistance with bathing. 4 years later, I either wore her down or she became wiser with age 🤣Helping her make a few simple accomodations over the last few years, now at 103 yrs old, Ms. K is thriving, living independently and remains safe when it comes to showering and personal hygiene.

My 103 yr old client would agree with these 3 simple rules for a long happy life:
1. Keep your mind engaged - she happily worked with great coworkers in the health sciences industry until she was 85 yrs old.
2. Don't carry hatred - she has a "let it roll off my back" mentality and doesn't dwell on negativity.
3. Everything in moderation - she loves her Diet Coke and fast food, but still makes sure to eat her veggies!

Spent the afternoon with my favorite 103 yr old client touring the The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature yesterday. She's gone from snowbird to full time resident over the last 30+ years and said she had never been to The Bishop! It was the perfect way to stay warm on these blustery winter days enjoying the manatees, the Planetarium shows, and all the exhibits in between!

Thank you Manatee County Tax Collector for helping my client get her Florida Identification Card and be REAL ID compliant.
I helped her get all of the necessary paperwork together and it was a seamless process!

After taking 3 hours to get onto AMI this morning, I finally laid eyes on my client's house. They were one of the lucky ones. Checking out the damage along the way was really eye opening, but equally incredible to see how much work has been done by crews in such a short time to clear the roadways and start getting power back.

All in a day's work!!

I have the opportunity to work with a wonderful couple on a weekly basis. Their needs range from accompanying them to doctors appointments, helping them organize their home, scheduling service vendors, and so much more.

While every day is productive, last Thursday alone we worked together to get them to multiple appointments for necessary medical procedures, set up online bill payments for monthly service providers and had some fun buying a new smart phone and new digital clock.

For his 93rd birthday, my client treated himself to the best gift ever! Over the past 6 months he had been having greater difficulty standing up safely from his existing recliner. He finally agreed to take a look at lift chairs and ended up purchasing one on the same day.
Our visit to
Palmetto / Sarasota Lift Chair Showroom was a success! He liked the fabric upholstered chair but REALLY wanted it in vinyl. New Year, New set of Audiobooks for my 101 year old client. She has always been an avid reader, but due to the progressive nature of her macular degeneration, she has relied on Brevard County Talking Books Library to provide her with a vast array of audiobooks for well over a decade.
"The Florida Bureau of Braille and Talking Book Library is the largest library of its kind in the U.S. with a collection of more than 2.4 million items in Braille and audio format. The Library serves more than 31,647 Florida residents with annual loans exceeding 1.99 million items."

Love the golf cart valet service provided by HCA Florida Blake Hospital escorting my client and I from the parking lot to the main entrance. What a huge help while dealing with all this humidity.
Only in Florida!!
