We are having lamb chops for dinner tonight. As anyone with good taste knows you have to have mint sauce with lamb. We stopped by our local Publix yesterday where I purchased a rather sad looking bunch of mint from Mexico for I think $2.29. I put it in water over night hoping it might recover…it didn’t.
By chance we ended up at Detweiler’s today where I picked up a huge bunch of mint for $2.50. After a ruthless selection process where I tossed away roughly 50% of the leaves that didn’t look perfect here is the side by side comparison.
Which would you choose!
While we like our local Publix, the store is immaculate and the employees are generally helpful, we do think sometimes they need to do a better job in their produce department. Detweiler’s runs rings around them!

Am I the only one who is baffled by manufacturers that make their products extremely difficult to open?
Crown Home Watch recently performed a Concierge Service for one of our clients who happens to be 96 years old and asked us if we could pick up some items from Costco for her. Unfortunately they were out of the usual milk cartons that come 3 to a box and instead just had 1 gallon size cartons. So we purchased one for her.
She has arthritis in her hands and asked if we could open it for her and pour it into smaller containers which would be easier for her to handle. Of course we agreed. Simple task right??
Check out the attached video. Absolutely impossible to remove the safety seal without a pair of grips, even then it wasn’t an easy task.
How on earth are our seniors with limited dexterity supposed to open this? Has anyone in upper management at Costco tried to open one of these before putting them out on the market?
Seems like no one cares about the end user any more.
Am I alone with my thoughts? Let me know.

Crown Home Watch thoroughly checks your home outside including pool, pool equipment and landscaping as well as the inside, which includes temperature and humidity checks, all doors and windows, checks for insect intrusion and we flush all toilets and run all the sinks. We also run the garbage disposal for a few seconds to prevent binding. On this occasion we noticed water leaking from the garbage disposal, upon further examination we discovered there was a crack in the actual unit causing water to pour out whenever the faucet was engaged.
We notified the owner and arranged for our preferred plumber to come out and replace the garbage disposal.
We doubt Chuck in a Truck would have found this issue!

While checking the exterior of our clients homes and their landscaping can be brutal in the summer heat, sometimes you see the most amazing things.

Today I spotted this fabulous Great Blue Heron looking for a snack alongside a lake in Lakewood Ranch. No one else around just me and the Great Blue Heron! Awesome!

Crown Home Watch is closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias as it moves closer to landfall somewhere from Alabama to the Florida Pan Handle.
Thankfully the Tampa Bay Area looks like it will be spared a direct hit this time.
