The North Central Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides no-cost business consulting and at-cost training to help entrepreneurs and small businesses start, grow, and succeed. We are hosted by Central Lakes College and work through an 11 county and 2 sovereign nation region. Our service area includes the counties of Aitkin, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Todd, and Wadena, and the sovereign nations of the Leech Lake and Mille Lacs Bands of Ojibwe.

Our Regional Director Katie attended a Child Care Market Analysis presentation at St Cloud State University sponsored by Initiative Foundation today. She ran into Central Region Small Business Development Center Regional Director Mike Heen who showed her the campus tradition of touching the nose of Blizzard T. Husky for good luck. Here's hoping this brings lots of luck to our regional child care providers as they navigate the challenges of being entrepreneurs alongside caring for our most precious generation.

Today we had the joy of celebrating our long time professional business consultant Julie Anderholm, who received the 2026 Women's Business Champion Award from the Minnesota SBA District Office. Thank you to our co-hosts Initiative Foundation and Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corporation and everyone who came out to congratulate Julie and celebrate with us.

The event was held at the Vault at Cuyuna Brewing Company. Julie has been working with the owners since 2017, including assisting with this latest expansion. The Vault opened on Memorial Day weekend, if you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, move it to the top of your to-do list 🍻
