Public Statement from Crow Wing Recycling:

This morning, a small fire broke out in a scrap metal pile at Crow Wing Recycling due to a lithium-ion battery left inside a household appliance. Thanks to the quick response of the Brainerd Fire Department and other first responders, the fire was contained within two hours, and no injuries were reported.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to the firefighters and emergency personnel for their swift action and dedication. This incident serves as an important reminder to properly remove lithium-ion batteries from appliances before recycling to help prevent future fires.
