Criminals can often behave in the exact same manner. As they attempt to identify a potential target, they look for that "moment of opportunity." And when that moment strikes, something "clicks," motivating them to act. If they are operating on foot, this can result in a sudden or unusual disruption in their path. This video will show you six different criminal events where this "moment" is clearly detectable.
Try to enhance your personal situational awareness as you go about your day. Limit your distractions. Practice your observation skills. Watch people! Paint a quick mental picture of what is happening with the individuals in your environment. Practice these principles if you work in a security role and are tasked with monitoring video surveillance.
Most people deviate from their path for an innocuous reason. They will be window shopping, chasing that $20 bill, or darting towards the Dunkin Donuts kiosk they spotted with no line. But if the cause is, in fact, criminal, as you'll see throughout this video, your ability to identify that "moment" may put you in a better position to respond.
CATCH the threat before the threat catches you! And ALWAYS have a plan in mind to escape any dangerous situation as quickly as possible!
