HUMANITY DOESN’T EXCLUDE JEWS.

Humanitarian language must never become camouflage for anti-Israel hatred or the glorification of terrorism.

Musicians who invoke peace, love, and unity have a responsibility to examine what they amplify. A message that excuses the murder of Israelis betrays every one of those ideals.

Reject the camouflage. Refuse to give terror a microphone.

“Zionist” is no badge of shame. We stand proudly for Jewish self-determination in Israel—and with artists targeted for that conviction.

Using the word as a slur to harass, blacklist, or silence people deserves a clear response: we will keep creating, performing, and speaking up.

On October 7, we remember those murdered at the Nova festival and stand with the survivors.

A music community that celebrates connection and freedom must confront the glorification of terrorists who attacked people gathered to dance. Reject anti-Jewish and anti-Israel hate. Honor their memory.

HeshWorks Media is developing 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗖—an independent campaign confronting anti-Jewish and anti-Israel hate in music.

We’ll challenge death chants, intimidation, and the blacklisting of Jewish and pro-Israel artists through sharp slogans, bold graphics, and a gritty rock ’n’ roll aesthetic. We’ll stand with targeted artists and reclaim “Zionist” with pride.

The campaign is taking shape now, and we’re seeking founding supporters and collaborators: musicians, designers, music industry contacts, and people who can help through introductions, financial backing, or sharing our work.

A salute to the Cape May Singer-Songwriter Conference & Showcase, which has announced that it will not return in 2027.

I performed there as The Hesh Inc. in nine of the event’s fourteen years. SSCM gave me a place to share my songs, connect with other musicians, and be part of something special in Cape May each March.

The announcement follows co-founder Patrick Logue’s retirement. Co-founder John Harris also noted that local venues have built strong programming of their own, while presenting emerging artists on the conference’s former scale has become unsustainable. The lively off-season music scene SSCM helped cultivate is a lasting achievement.

Thank you to John, Patrick, the organizers, venues, and fellow performers. Cape May at the end of March won’t feel quite the same.

Beach towns have two personalities: the one everybody knows in summer, and the quieter one that emerges after the season ends.

Empty beaches. Quiet boardwalks and streets. Open space. And that wonderful feeling that, for a little while, you have the place almost entirely to yourself.

That feeling became part of the larger Soul In Exile world—and became “Beach Town in the Off Season.”

Every story happens somewhere. Sometimes the setting becomes part of the story itself.

Asbury Park is woven throughout The Soul In Exile Trilogy, but the connection didn't begin with its famous music scene. It began with a personal history stretching back to childhood.

Over time, those early memories were joined by music, songwriting, disappearing landmarks, years of decline, and finally a city finding its way back.

That accumulation of history is what made Asbury Park more than scenery. The city became part of the language of Soul In Exile—a place where memory, loss, survival, and renewal could all occupy the same landscape.
