I'm not big on buying the latest and greatest when it comes to gear. When I find something that works, I stick with it.

What I am big on is training in the gear you have. I'd rather adjust something in a training setting than a competition setting. I'd rather something fail at my event than in a duty setting where the stakes are a lot higher than a spot on the podium.

I love putting on training events that give the community a chance to do exactly that. I love overhearing veterans give good gear advice from real experience, whether competitive or tactical. I love seeing the same faces show up to each event. We've truly built something amazing here.

I picked up arguably the cheapest 9mm 1911 available before I saw prices start to creep again, simply because I had wondered:

What can you do with a budget 9mm 1911 in 2026?

Having already put a handful of rounds through my 1911 A2 Tactical I suppose the question should have been "What can't I do?".

Throughout the rest of the year of 2026 I plan on shooting this gun to see how it and the optic holds up to the abuse of competition, and how it stacks performance wise to the other high end 2011s out there.

I hope this turns out to be a huge W for cash strapped competitors who want the advantages of the 1911/2011.

I came to know this hill very well by the end of Operation Shooter.

Seeing the hill meant I was nearly done with whatever event we were suffering through (fully knowing there'd be little time to rest before the next one).

stuck by my side the entire weekend, never letting my mind get the best of me, never letting me give up even when I was slowing him down. He's an amazing friend, an amazing competitor, and an amazing ambassador to this community.

glasses and were the two stand out pieces of kit that truly made a difference in my performance, the transition glasses during nighttime conditions were key and the boots were solid out of the box, especially on those long rucks.

An unforgettable experience and one of the toughest endurance competitions I've ever done with some of the toughest people I've ever met.

I couldn't have asked for a better turnout for and .photonics first official Low Light match .

5 stages of cardboard shredding in the dark and everyone got to shoot out of the back of my truck, again ( that was for Larry 💕), I'd call that a win. We're already looking forward to our next match February 7th, which you can register for on .

A huge thanks to and for being top tier Squad Leaders, as well as everyone else who assisted with RO/paste/offer a helping hand. An even bigger thanks to the volunteers who showed up early to help, we're building an amazing community and couldn't do it without you.

Lastly I want to thank the competitors, everyone did a fantastic job prioritizing safety. Our after action report was the shortest we've ever had because everyone was extremely careful, and I genuinely can't thank you enough. You're all homies and I hope to see you at the next one.
