CVM, Inc.’s President, Chuck Veth met with Centripetal Networks’s Chief Revenue Officer, Geoff Craig, and the New England Channel Director, Craig Fox, to discuss expanding their partnership. CVM embraced the Centripetal Internet security platform a couple of years ago and has become a committed Centripetal partner. The CleanINTERNET Service, billed as a “threat intelligence gateway”, accomplishes its goal of blocking “threatening” network connections, both inbound and outbound, from a completely different perspective. CVM, Inc. provides comprehensive disaster recovery services including backup, replication, and virtual remote sites. How are CVM’s services different than low cost archive storage in the cloud? Simple, CVM has compute and connectivity to run your servers and services and get your users connected to them.

You may be able to check a box on an insurance form for “off-site backup storage” but this does not guarantee that your organization has a disaster recovery solution. For example, let’s say you are sending 20TB of backup data to the cloud and you have a disaster caused by nature or malice. You now need to combine this cloud stored data with compute resources (CPU, RAM, disk space, operating systems, and applications) to get your workloads running and your users productive. If your Internet connection has a download speed of 500 Mbps it will take 5 days to download this data from the cloud if everything goes perfectly, which it may not. Before you even get started downloading you may need to assemble new infrastructure such as servers, storage, and software – another unlikely task. Can your business afford to be without its data and applications for a couple of weeks?

When we explain it to a customer, they often suggest that their firewall provides a similar protection service. This is simply not the case. CVM recently had the opportunity to offer a high-volume data replication solution. One of CVM’s customers generates 25,000 monitoring records a second, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And they do this from multiple sites. It was proving difficult to consolidate this data at a single location for reporting and historical purposes. The tools were failing due to the slightest communication hiccup and would never catch-up. CVM performed some R&D and had numerous candid conversations with vendors and industry experts. The result: Apache Cassandra is the right solution. After the design, deployment, and performance tuning CVM was able to provide a distributed database solution that offers verifiable functionality with theoretically limitless scalability in today’s standards.
