May was a fairly busy month for HFD. As the weather warms up and more people flock to the Adirondacks to enjoy everything summer has to offer, weβd like to remind everyone to stay safe while making the most of the season.
Whether youβre boating, kayaking, tubing, hiking, camping, or simply enjoying time outdoors, please take a few extra precautions. Always wear your PFD (life jacket) when appropriate, be aware of changing water conditions on local rivers and lakes, never leave campfires unattended, and make sure they are completely extinguished before leaving.
We would also like to remind motorists to yield to emergency vehicles when first responders are responding to calls. There are times when roads must be closed for extended periods during emergencies. We understand how frustrating delays can be, but please remember that road closures are implemented out of necessity to protect both the public and emergency personnelβnot to inconvenience anyone.
As always, we appreciate your patience, understanding, and support. Have a safe and enjoyable summer, and weβll be here if you need us!
