👮‍♀️Achievement Alert 🧑‍🚒
Look who we were able to catch a glimpse of from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency academy pictures yesterday! The first young man pictured on the right is our very own Captain, Zachary Meeks. Zack has been with our department for 5 years after serving for over a decade in the Covington County Fire Association.

This week, Zack started a new chapter of his career with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to become a State Trooper. We are beyond proud of Zack and his commitment to service for our community and now for the State of Alabama. Zack will remain a vital member of our department after trooper academy so don’t worry he is not going anywhere 😉!

Please send your thoughts and prayers as he continues his way through the academy these next few months. We are proud to call you one of ours, brother! Best of luck!

During tonight’s training meeting, members of Bullock Community Volunteer Fire Department conducted annual inspections and flushing of fire hydrants throughout our response area.

Routine hydrant maintenance helps ensure hydrants are operating properly, provides adequate water flow for firefighting operations, and allows crews to identify any needed repairs before an emergency occurs.

Training and maintenance like this are an important part of keeping our department prepared to protect the community when called upon.

We appreciate the continued dedication of our volunteer members who give their time to train and serve our community.

⚠️Multiple Incidents⚠️

1st Incident:
This morning at approximately 6:15, Bullock Community VFD was dispatched along with Elba Fire Department, New Brockton Volunteer Fire Department, Zion Chapel VFD and Enterprise Rescue Inc. to a reported abandoned structure fire in the 22000 block of Hwy 189. Tanker 751 and Engine 752 made a swift response to the scene to find a single story residential structure with fire extension from an outside garage into the main structure. Fire crews quickly made entry into the structure and confirmed that it was abandoned before beginning fire attack. The fire was mostly contained to one corner of the house and part of the attic space and was quickly extinguished.

2nd Incident:
Shortly after lunch this afternoon, Bullock Community VFD was dispatched along with Elba Fire and Zion Chapel Fire to a grass fire caused by a downed power line in the 9300 block of CR306. Fire crews were able to extinguish that fire within minutes of arriving on scene and assisted with traffic control while power crews worked to fix the broken power line.

We would like to commend each department for their seamless response and coordination one both of these calls. We also want to thank our dispatchers at 19 Central for their support in getting all units where they need to be in a timely manner and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office - Alabama for their assistance with traffic control on both incidents. This is yet another example of how different communities come together to accomplish the same goal of protecting lives and property.

Good evening, everyone,

We are aware that the CodeRED system has recently been sending notifications for counties north of our area. CodeRED is currently transitioning to a new platform, and their team has been working through the process of updating and configuring the new system settings. During that process, an incorrect boundary setting was accidentally placed on our northern border, which caused automated alerts from the Birmingham National Weather Service office to be distributed in addition to our normal alerts from Mobile.

Please know that this issue does not affect emergency alerts specifically intended for Crenshaw County. We appreciate everyone’s patience as these adjustments are being made. While the extra notifications can certainly become frustrating, it does confirm that the new system is functioning and delivering alerts as intended.

We will be monitoring weather conditions throughout the night. If there are ever any communication issues affecting alerts within our county, I will personally ensure that updates and emergency information are sent out manually.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding. Hopefully, we can all trade a few extra notifications for a quiet night with no severe weather.

Tonight at 20:11, Bullock Community Fire/Rescue was dispatched on mutual aid to Elba Fire Department for a possible structural fire. While en route, we were advised our assistance was no longer needed.

At the same time we were notified to cancel that response, our department was dispatched to a reported structural fire on Old Three Notch Road.

Units 771 and 751 arrived on scene approximately 9 minutes after dispatch, with a slight delay due to our location when the second call was received. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire to an outbuilding, preventing extension to nearby structures.

There were no injuries reported and no additional property loss beyond the shed.

Around 1:00 this afternoon, Bullock Community Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to our mutual aid territory with Elba Fire, who were already working another call when this one came in. Our crew responded and was able to quickly suppress the remaining fire.

While we were finishing up, hitting hotspots and checking for extension, the homeowner let us know her water was out. The fire had damaged her pump house, leaving her without a water supply. Seeing the need, our team stepped in without hesitation. We gathered the necessary materials and worked together to restore her water before clearing the scene.

Moments like this, going beyond the call is what truly defines who we are. We are here to protect and serve our community in every capacity that we can offer.

Our words of encouragement for others is this; If you want to see a change, make a change! Sometimes taking a few extra minutes to give a caring hand with no expectations of anything in return can lift the spirits of someone else.

Thank you to our members for stepping up and helping!

🚫🔥 FIRE WEATHER WARNING 🔥🚫

The Bullock Fire Department is urging all residents to AVOID OUTDOOR BURNING this weekend due to dangerous fire weather conditions across Alabama.

According to the Alabama Forestry Commission, strong winds, low humidity, and dry conditions are creating a high risk for fast-spreading wildfires.

📅 What You Need to Know:
• Friday (March 27): Fire Danger Advisory in effect
• Saturday (March 28): NO burn permits will be issued to anyone
• Sunday (March 29): Conditions expected to improve slightly, but caution is still advised

These conditions mean fires can escape quickly and spread rapidly, threatening homes, property, and the lives of both citizens and firefighters. In the past week alone, 147 wildfires have burned approximately 5,600 acres across Alabama, showing just how dangerous conditions are right now.

🚨 What We Are Asking From You:
• Do NOT burn yard debris, trash, or fields this weekend
• Avoid activities that could cause sparks (welding, burning barrels, etc.)
• Report any uncontrolled fire immediately

📞 To Report a Wildfire:
• Call 911 for any emergency or fire that is spreading

Your cooperation helps protect your neighbors, our community, and the firefighters who serve you. Please share this post so others in our area are aware.

Stay safe, stay alert, and please — don’t burn. 🔥🚒

Tonight our department received our new Viking turnout gear that was awarded to us through the 2024 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant. Through the grant process, we were able to purchase 14 total sets of turnout gear including: 1 Coat, 1 Pant and suspenders, 1 Helmet, 1 Pair of Boots, 2 Nomex hoods and 2 pair of Structural Firefighting Gloves per set.

A huge thank you to Kenny Moss with Central Alabama Training Solutions for procuring the new Viking turnout gear, nomex hoods and gloves. We appreciate all of you that purchased tickets from our gun raffle back at Christmas, those funds are being used as a match to the FEMA grant for this equipment. The total cost of the turnout gear was $45,000 with our match being just over $2,000.

“If You See Something, Say Something”

That phrase proved vital Friday afternoon when a passing motorist noticed a fire dangerously close to a structure and quickly called 911. Thanks to their swift action, units from Bullock Community Fire Department and Elba Fire Department were rapidly dispatched and arrived on scene shortly after.

Crews from both departments worked together for approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control and prevent further danger to the structure.

We’re grateful for the alert passerby and for the dedication of our first responders. Remember — if you see something, say something. It could save lives.
