September is Hose Safety Awareness Month. This year NAHAD expanded it from a single week to the full month, and Southeastern Hose is taking part.
Safety starts long before an assembly reaches a jobsite. It starts with the questions we ask before we build it.
That is what STAMPED is for. Most people think of it as an ordering checklist. It is closer to a risk checklist. An assembly that is undersized, under-rated for temperature, or incompatible with the media it carries does not just underperform. It becomes a hazard to the people working around it.
The two that get overlooked most often are Media and Temperature. Media means the actual fluid or gas in the line, including concentration and any cleaning or sanitizing agents that run through it. Temperature means both the media temperature and the ambient conditions the assembly lives in.
Both matter more than people expect, because published pressure ratings are tied to specific operating conditions. Change the temperature or the media and those ratings may no longer apply the way you are assuming they do.
