They have arrived!! This one came out of nowhere and took priority for a bit, just another layer of the leadership work I’ve been building quietly for a while now and rarely talk about.

I created this coin to honor presence, the moments when someone truly shows up and makes a difference. Not for recognition or credit, but because there’s a real person on the other side of the interaction and the moment matters to them. The imagery on the coin is intentional and represents both of my parents, while fitting seamlessly into the work itself.

A few years ago, during an appointment with my mom, something showed up in a way I couldn’t ignore. That experience became a wake-up call, reinforcing what I’ve always believed: leadership lives everywhere, and it shows up most clearly in how people show up when others are counting on them, especially when someone is most vulnerable. A reminder we can all use along the way.

The coin is simply a way to carry that forward, to notice those moments, honor them, and let appreciation move from one person to another when it feels right.

There have been lots of pauses along the way, unplanned life journeys that asked me to slow down and pay attention, but the work has never stopped. It’s still unfolding, in the book I'm writing, the business I'm building, and the ideas that keep finding their way to me.

This is one of those ideas that showed up unexpectedly, and now it gets to take shape in its own way and I’m ready for it.

Thank you Sienna and GS-JJ.com team for helping bring my image to life!

The pressure kicks in, tabs open everywhere, then overwhelm! That feeling of: HOW am I going to make this happen by the deadline?

And then the bigger question: Am I even big enough to be here?

One minute before the RFP deadline, everything that could go wrong, did! Missed appointment, meltdown moment, self-doubt creeping in while I stepped into a much bigger playing field, submitting for contracts that could open new doors and change the game for my business.

But at 3:59 PM, I pressed submit, with ONE minute to spare.

The adrenaline hit instantly! Confidence you only earn by showing up when doubt says you shouldn’t.

Later, trying to explain the chaos to my husband, I said,
Can you even imagine a surgeon saying in a panic during brain surgery or liver surgery “I’ve got tabs open everywhere, I don’t even know what I’m doing! Should I even be here?”

His response: “😂 well, first off, if they’re doing brain and liver surgery at the same time, they’ve got bigger issues”

We laughed, opened a bottle of wine, and celebrated my win.

Growth doesn’t happen when everything feels comfortable, it happens when we step into bigger arenas, even while questioning whether we belong, that’s where resilience, confidence, and leadership are built.

What’s your “one minute to spare” moment or the time you weren’t sure you were big enough, but you showed up anyway?

I could use your help...who do I know that’s in law enforcement?

This is a big deal for me. Early next week, I’ll be submitting my proposal to the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission for the FY26 Executive Leadership Development Course.

This program is about strengthening the ability of executive-level law enforcement leaders to foster trust, culture, and integrity. This is the type of work I’m most passionate about and there's a reason I just stumbled upon the RFP.

Who do I know that is, or knows someone in law enforcement? I’d love to hear your perspective on today’s leadership challenges. And if you know a retired law enforcement leader (or two), I’d be grateful for an introduction. To make the program truly impactful, my proposal will include a retired law enforcement leader who can bring lived experience and credibility to the training. Their perspective will not only enrich the program, it will also strengthen my bid.

If it’s meant to be, it will be.

STOP. GO. STOP. GO.

That’s what it feels like writing my book again. Because honestly, it can be SO emotionally draining, some days I cry more than I write.

This book isn’t about my mom, but she’s the reason I finally started it. And when I share pieces of her story that relate to why I wrote this book, those parts hit so differently now that she’s no longer here.

I used to share chapters with her, asking for her thoughts and advice. And damn it! I can’t do that anymore.

But I still feel her with me when I write, sometimes I even catch myself hearing what she’d say. And I know she’s smiling, proud that I’m following through on what I set out to do, even after the long pause.

More than anything, I hope this book can help shift the way we show up for each other, in small ways that matter more than we realize.

Why do we do this? Honestly, it’s frustrating.
Jeff Bezos gets married and the media covers the yacht, the millions spent on Lauren's jewelry, the dress, and every expensive wedding detail. And then of course the comments start to roll in:

"Meanwhile his employees only make $36K a year."
"Must be nice!"

It happens every time someone successful makes headlines.
Jealousy. Judgment. Assumptions.

But here’s the thing, people earn based on many things:
Their role, skillset, experience, work ethic, values, and the choices they’ve made to get where they are.

It’s not about what the CEO makes!
It’s about what you’re building with the opportunities and strengths you have.

And this Mindset? It doesn’t just show up in comment sections.
It shows up in the workplace, in how we lead, in how we treat others, in how we define growth, and in how we sometimes hold ourselves back.

This isn’t about defending billionaires.
It’s about recognizing how quick we are to compare, complain, and feel cheated, instead of asking:

🟩 What am I doing with what I have?
🟩 Am I focused on growing myself, or judging someone else?
🟩 What does my version of success look like, and am I working towards it?

WHAT IS THIS REALLY ABOUT?
The ring? The yacht? Or the quiet discomfort that rises in us when we see someone else shining?

Maybe it’s not about them at all, maybe it’s about us!
What we value. How we measure success. And whether we’re truly at peace with our own path.

It’s easy to point fingers and to believe someone else’s success somehow takes away from our own. To react instead of reflecting on what’s happening within.

But here’s the truth:
If you truly feel underpaid, undervalued, or overlooked, you have a choice.
You can speak up.
You can grow your skills.
You can make a change.
You can choose a new path that aligns with what you deserve.
That’s what personal growth looks like, taking ownership of your next move, not resenting someone else’s.

Real leadership and real personal growth requires a shift.
🟩 From comparison to clarity
🟩 From jealousy to self-awareness
🟩 From resentment to growth

It’s about the mindset we carry.
How we lead ourselves and others when no one’s watching.
And whether we choose jealousy or growth.

That’s what personal growth demands.
That’s what leadership requires.
And that’s where transformation starts.

Let’s be honest…

Leadership isn’t hard because of the big decisions.
It’s hard because of the emotional weight that comes with being the one others look to, especially when you’re carrying a lot yourself.

I’ve seen it in some of the most incredible leaders I’ve worked with.

The best leaders don’t pretend the pressure isn’t there.
They don’t fake calm.
And they don’t unload it on everyone else, either.

They have learned how to balance it.
To stay steady, not silent.
To show up real, but not reactive.
To lead through pressure while remembering, we’re all human.

That kind of leadership? It sticks.
It builds trust. It shapes culture.
And it makes people want to follow, not out of fear, but because they feel safe, seen, and supported.

That’s what The Service Mindset is all about.

Not just leading at work, but leading in life.
The kind that lifts others, creates space for growth, and brings out the best in people, even when things are hard.

Leadership isn’t always easy. But when done well, it’s one of the most rewarding things we’ll ever do.

What’s something leadership taught you that no one prepared you for?

The TRUTH? It didn’t go how I planned. And I’m finally ready to talk about it…

When I started writing The Service Mindset, I had a clear direction: leadership, service, making an impact. That’s still the heart of it, but life happened. A lot of life.

I had to pause. Step back. Take care of things I didn’t expect, and process things I never imagined. And for a while, I wasn’t sure when or how I’d come back to it.

What I know now is that I’m not just picking it back up.
I’m coming back with more clarity, more depth, and more passion than ever.
Because I owe it to the people who’ve shaped me, especially my momma.
She has always been my inspiration.
She’s the reason I started, and now, even more, she’s the reason I’m finishing.

Everything I’ve been through has given me new insight, new stories, and a deeper purpose for what I want this book and this work to become.

It’s not the ending I originally pictured.
But maybe it’s the one that makes it matter even more.

Have you ever had to hit pause, regroup, or find your way back? I get it. Feel free to share!

And if you’re still here, still cheering me on, I’m grateful! Keep following along.
The best part is still unfolding.

“Ugh… not another touchy-feely training.”

I remember one specific training I led on personality in the workplace.
Before we even got started, several senior leaders were already grumbling.
They didn’t see the value.
They didn’t think it was worth their time.
The had "real" work to do.....

But by the end of the training, they were ALL in.
They saw themselves and each other differently. They were more aware, more curious, more equipped to lead. Weeks and even months later, they were still talking about and using what they learned.

The “soft stuff” is actually the hard stuff, and it’s what changes everything.
But even great training falls short when it doesn’t match the needs of the company and the people doing the work everyday.
That’s why I don’t do "one-size-fits-all" leadership development.
I design experiences that connect with people, because when you meet leaders where they are, they show up stronger for everyone else.

If you're tired of generic training that doesn’t stick, let's chat about what your team actually needs.

Leadership isn’t just something we do at work—it’s who we are in life’s hardest moments.

I know I’ve been MIA for a while and here’s why….

In April, my life changed forever when I lost my dad. His passing left an immeasurable void, and almost immediately, my mom’s health took a major decline. Overnight, I went from being a daughter focused on my career to managing their lives alongside my own.

As hard as it already was navigating all of that along with my mom’s back-and-forth hospital visits, surgeries, and rehab, I had no idea that five months later I would become her full-time caregiver, nor did I know she would pass so quickly. Those six weeks were some of the most challenging of my life. I felt guilty constantly—guilty for wondering if I was doing enough, for feeling frustrated when things felt overwhelming, for being exhausted and even annoyed at times. I also felt guilty for needing a break.

But I’ve come to realize that this guilt didn’t mean I was failing. It meant I cared about and loved her so deeply. It was a reflection of how much I wanted to do better, even when I felt stretched too thin to give more.

I also had to remind myself that none of us can do it alone. My family and friends were always there for me, offering to help when I needed a break. Their support reminded me of the power of connection and the importance of asking for help, even when it feels hard to admit you can’t do it all.

Walking through this journey required me to pause everything, and in that pause, I reminded myself that leadership isn’t just about showing up when it’s convenient. It’s about showing up when it’s hard. Leadership isn’t about perfection or control; it’s about navigating the messiness with heart, courage, and grace, even when you feel like you’re breaking under the weight of it all.

Through caregiving, I learned that real leadership is deeply personal. It’s about finding strength in vulnerability, balancing compassion with tough choices, and leading with intention even when the future feels uncertain. These lessons have shaped how I view leadership—not just in work, but in life.
Through it all, my mom was the person with the most strength and determination of all. And I’ve always admired her for that! She’s my hero!

This experience has reignited my passion for leadership development. I’ve seen how the hardest moments in life can teach us to lead with greater compassion, resilience, and authenticity. I’m more committed than ever to helping others step into leadership roles with confidence, even when they feel unsure, and to remind them that imperfection is part of the process.

As I return to my work in the new year, everything I do moving forward is dedicated to my parents and the values they instilled in me. Through this journey, I realized how much they inspired me in ways I hadn’t fully appreciated before. The book I started last year that was inspired by my mom will be one of the first projects I return to, honoring her legacy and the lessons she taught me.

Here’s to embracing the messy, imperfect moments of life & leadership and stepping into 2025 with intention, courage, and heart.
