He’s not wrong. but…
Here’s what he doesn’t get: there are real reasons we hold onto clothes longer than we should, and none of them are about being messy or lazy. 🙂↔️
It’s called loss aversion. Our brains 🧠 are wired to feel the sting of letting something go about twice as strongly as the joy of keeping it.
👗 So that dress you’ve worn once in four years? Tossing it actually registers as a small loss, even though it’s just taking up space.
🪤 Then there’s the “sunk cost” trap. “But I spent money on that.” So we keep it to justify the purchase, even though the money’s already gone. 😬
Plus the one that makes me sad: we don’t just keep clothes, we keep versions of ourselves.
👖 The jeans from a different season of life. The blazer for the job we don’t have anymore. The “when I lose ten pounds” pile.
Im here to tell you : Less isn’t deprivation. Less is easier. 👏🏼
When you cut your closet down to what actually fits, flatters, and feels like you, getting dressed stops being so hard.
👏🏼 Fewer choices, less decision fatigue, more mornings where you just get dressed and go.
You don’t have to get rid of everything. You just have to stop letting the stuff you never wear take up all the space.
⭐️ I can help you with this (and I always haul it to women’s organizations and charities who genuinely need it in the nashville area!)
It’s gonna feel good to get it in order on soooo many levels, and I’ll be there to tell you it’s absolutely okay to let it go. 😊
