Two local organizations, Hunger Coalition of Transylvania County - ( https://www.hungerfreetc.com/donate.html )and Sharing House - https://www.sharinghouse.org/donate are on the frontlines, providing food and critical support to families devastated by Hurricane Helene. Your donations will make an immediate and direct impact on our community’s recovery—please consider donating today.
Transylvania County is my home base and the community where I proudly serve on multiple non-profit boards. These people are my extended family, and they need our support during this critical time. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the devastation has been severe:
• Thousands in Transylvania County are still without power, with restoration efforts ongoing and the majority expected by Friday.
• Over 300 Duke Energy technicians are on the ground working to restore service
• Local shelters, like those at Transylvania County Parks and Recreation Center, are housing displaced families, while emergency teams distribute food and supplies
• Many families remain unaccounted for or trapped due to roads being swept away
