🍷🌼 Fun Fact Friday! 🌼🍷
Did you know that some of the dandelions in your yard might eventually become wine?
Every spring, the folks at Kirkwood Winery, in Summersville, invite members of their community to help forage dandelion blossoms for their famous Dandelion Wine. What many consider a pesky w**d becomes the star ingredient in a uniquely West Virginia wine, made possible by neighbors, families, and local flower pickers working together.
Talk about drinking local!
And here's a little preview of what's coming: next week at WV Fest Sip Stopt, we'll be featuring Kirkwood's Dandelion Wine in our Mountain Bloom Cocktail, blended with raspberry wine for a sweet taste of Appalachian spring
So if you've ever picked a dandelion from your yard, there's a chance you're looking at one of West Virginia's most unexpected wine ingredients. 🌼
Fun Fact: A single dandelion plant can produce up to 5,000 seeds each year—which is great news when you're turning flowers into wine! 🥂
