✨ 3-Month Milestones: New Behaviors and How They Impact Sleep 🍼
It feels like my babe is growing and changing every day, and at 3 months, those changes are really starting to shine! 🌟 Here’s what I’ve noticed lately:
💡 Increased Alertness: My guy is staying awake longer during the day, soaking in the world with wide eyes and curious coos. While this is amazing, it also means we’ve had to keep a keen eye on sleepy cues to avoid overtired meltdowns.
💡 More Movement: Kicking, squirming, and rolling practice have become regular parts of our day (and night!). All this activity can make settling down for sleep a little trickier.
💡 Hands in Mouth & Drooling: Little man has discovered his hands—and he is OBSESSED! Between constant hand-chewing and endless drool, it’s hard not to wonder if teeth are already on the way (spoiler: probably not just yet). But these new habits can sometimes be distracting during sleep time.
💡 Developing Sleep Cycles: His sleep is maturing, with lighter and deeper phases becoming more distinct. This has lead to more frequent wake-ups at night and some shorter naps. Hello 4 month sleep regression 🤦🏻♀️
💡 Newfound FOMO: My little one seems more aware of his surroundings, which can make winding down for naps or bedtime a bit of a challenge. We’ve been using the gentle jiggle technique and a strong hand on his chest to assist him in finding some calm - crib-side. (We’ve successfully ditched the Snoo!)
✨ What Else We’re Doing:
• Sticking to a consistent bedtime and naptime routine.
• Adjusting wake time to align with baby’s new energy levels.
• Using a bib or burp cloth to manage the drool overload! And offering a paci at night.
• Practicing patience and flexibility because, let’s face it, every day is different!
Watching these changes happen is incredible, but they definitely keep me on my toes. If you’re in the same boat, know you’re not alone—this stage is all about adapting to your baby’s growing world. 💕
