Black History Month is the annual celebration of black achievement, culture, and people. In 1926 historian Carter G Woodson declared the second week of February 'Negro History Week' because it coincided with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln on the 12th and Frederick Douglass on the 14th. In 1970 the first Black History Month was celebrated by students at Kent State, and six years later it became nationally recognized. The Magnolia team had such a great time at the Light the Night walk this Saturday at the South Street Seaport! Light the Night is an annual walk hosted by the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help raise awareness about blood cancer. Magnolia Innovation is proud to be participating in this year’s Light the Night Walk on October 29 at the South Street Seaport, organized by the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

LLS, the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer, has hosted a Light the Night walk every year since 1999. In the last 5 years, LLS has helped advance 85% of all the blood cancer treatment options approved by the FDA, showing that every walk and donation is truly making a difference. October is Polish-American Heritage Month! Did you know that ~10 million Americans, or ~3% of the US population, identify as Polish-Americans? The earliest Poles came to the Jamestown colony on October 1, 1608 with Captain John Smith, and worked as artisans and craftsmen to help establish the 'New World.'
