From Cheri -
In the middle of the night sitting vigil, when my mind gets quiet, sometimes bits of wisdom are revealed.💗

Birth & Death

I am reminded once again, of how birth and death mirror each other in so many ways. Pain and relief in the same moments, beautiful, scary, emotional, raw, messy... and sacred.

Both happenings call forth great patience and fierce compassion from our own depths.

Birth and death are their own seperate energies that move to their own rhythms, yet they seem in total sync with each other as we travel to and fro.

They happen in their own time, insisting on being honored, they will not be rushed.

For those of us with the courage to step into these spaces with another and bear witness to the sacred, we come away richer, more wise, and pondering the existential.

Death and birth are not the same...and yet they are also not different. They are kin to each other with a peculiar juxtoposition. They are not meant to be feared or hushed. One is the dawn of a new day, the rising of the sun warm and bright. The other, a recognition of the changing of the guards as the light fades and the moon with its great mystery takes its rightful place in the starlit sky.

Hello Friends...

Due to a lack of attendance and participation, we are sad to announce that we are cancelling our upcoming Death Cafe's for now, starting with our January 30, 2025 Death Cafe.

We are doing some thinking and brainstorming to figure out how we can move forward with this as we know it is really important to have a space like this designated to openly talk about death and all the things associated with death.

We know it is much needed, and so many people express their interest, curiosity, and verbal support. HOWEVER when participation is extremely low (1-2 people) or no-one shows up at all, we have to rethink what we are doing and question if there is a better or different way to offer this kind of safe space to our community, or perhaps people truly just aren't interested, or ready to prioritize discussing such a taboo subject.

We get it. Death is hard to talk about. Sometimes it feels almost impossible to speak of. And grief can take our breath away with it's intensity and pain. But the reality is, most of us have been touched by death in some way and we will all be facing our own death at some point. It is important, and often awkward and uncomfortable to talk about the hard stuff.

So please bear with us and stay tuned to see what the future of our Death Cafe holds. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback if you have thoughts or ideas you'd like to share with us about our Death Cafe.

Thank you,
Cheri & Harmony

"I think once you hold a slice of the collective pain your life never feels like your own again. Because once you witness the pain it becomes yours to help carry-to help alleviate.
And somehow that feels lighter than carrying your own by yourself. "

“The bond between a pet and a human is a sacred one, and when a pet is gone, a part of us goes with them.” - James Herriot
Did you know that we are available to support the end of life situation that you and your beloved pet may be facing? Death of a loved one often includes the loved ones with fur, paws, feathers, or scales. To some folks, the loss of a beloved pet is as deeply painful as the loss of a beloved human. Loss is loss, and all loss is worthy of being honored.
Maybe your pet is ill and you will eventually have to make a medical decision to let them go, or maybe that time has come and you don't want to face it alone. Perhaps your pet has had a sudden injury or accident. Or your pet is already gone and you would like support with a ceremony or ritual to honor them and your time together. We know it can be hard, and we are to walk that path with you.

We have been invited to have a table at this FREE event tomorrow and share information about who we are and what we do.
