At United Power, we strive to provide reliable service but unfortunately, power outages can still occur for various reasons. While our crews work hard to keep your lights on — it's crucial to be prepared for outages. Here are some tips to keep you prepared:

⚡ Build an emergency kit: Keep enough water, nonperishable food, and medications on hand for several days. Include flashlights, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, blankets, a battery-powered or hand-crank radio, phone chargers, and other essentials your household may need.
⚡ Plan for medical needs: If someone in your household relies on electrically powered medical equipment, develop a plan before an outage occurs. Have an alternative power plan and an evacuation plan if extended outages or extreme temperatures make your home unsafe.
⚡ Prepare for wildfire and severe weather: Know your evacuation routes, sign up for local emergency alerts, and keep important documents and emergency supplies where they can be accessed quickly.

Stay informed and outage ready. 🌐 For more resources, visit www.unitedpower.com/ready.

We are retiring $4.5 million in capital credits this year! Did you know in a co-op, any profits go back to members? At the end of the year, after all operating expenses are paid, any remaining revenue is allocated as capital credits. When financial conditions allow, our board approves a capital credit retirement and all members receive a payout or what we like to call, “Your Piece of the Pie.” ⚡💵 Returns of $50 or more are being mailed as checks this week. Everyone else will see a credit on their next bill. What do you plan to do with your capital credit refund? Comment below!

⚡ Quick safety tip: It's back to school time, so you're probably plugging in all your favorite tech again. 💻 Don't cram too many plugs into one socket—it’s not worth the risk! Let your gadgets have some space and stay safe this school year.

United Power contractors will be conducting routine pole inspections in the southwestern area of cooperative's plains territory, between Carbon Valley and Brighton, from Aug. 25 - Oct. 1 as part of our ongoing maintenance program. No outages are planned to complete this work.

Over the next month, you may see inspection crews from Utility Asset Management working in the area, traveling on ATVs, or walking on private property to conduct visual inspections of utility poles. The cooperative appreciates your help ensuring safe access to equipment on your property.

Pole inspections help the cooperative identify maintenance needs, improve system reliability, and ensure the continued safe operation of the electric system.

United Power recently had a visit from former Assistant Secretary of Energy Bruce Walker and Jim Ogle, Director of Electricity Infrastructure Sector, with Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL). PNNL is engaged in the development of a system-wide approach to operations from a national security perspective. They are particularly interested in United Power’s hyper-localization strategy as it may apply broadly around the U.S.

President & CEO Mark A. Gabriel and SVP & Chief Energy Resource Officer Jon Aust took Mr. Walker and Mr. Ogle on an in-depth tour of Mountain Peak Power, a keystone energy project in the cooperative’s hyper-localization strategy.
