Has your latest computer quote looked like a typo? It isn't one. We're hearing this from clients every week.
The short version is that AI data centers are soaking up the world's memory supply. J.P. Morgan estimates DRAM prices will be up more than 400% from early 2024 to the end of 2026, and Gartner expects that to add about 17% to PC prices. Most of our quotes on smaller orders are now only good for two to three days.
For law and CPA firms, here's what we recommend:
- Plan your refresh instead of replacing everything in a panic
- Move on a good quote when you get one
- Buy fewer, better machines, not bargain-bin junk
