Very good break down of why clear is not a good option!!
🚨 PUTTING CLEAR SEALER ON A TEXAS FENCE IS LIKE SENDING A REDHEAD TO CANCÚN WITH A BOTTLE OF BABY OIL. ☀️🦞
Somebody call the burn unit. 🚑😂
Y'all. We need to have a little fence talk.
Some of y'all are spending THOUSANDS of dollars on beautiful cedar fences (we know, because we also build them), only to slap clear sealer on them and send them straight into the Texas sun.
MA'AM. THAT FENCE IS GETTING ROTISSERIED. 🍗
And the Texas sun does NOT discriminate.
It doesn't care how much you paid for your fence, how pretty that cedar looked when it was installed, or that your neighbor's cousin's best friend's husband said clear sealer was "just as good."
Bless his heart. 😂
But let me get serious for a moment.
Please, please take sun protection seriously. Not just for your fences, but for YOU and your families.
My husband is a Stage 3 melanoma cancer survivor. Two surgeries, 13 lymph nodes removed,
four Mohs surgeries, and a chemical peel treatment on his arms with the last two just this year!
Our family has experienced firsthand just how devastating skin cancer can be.
So when I tell you WE DON'T PLAY ABOUT SUN PROTECTION, I mean every word of it.
Get those suspicious spots checked and protect your babies.
I'm incredibly grateful my husband is still here with us, and if sharing even a little bit of our story encourages ONE person to take their skin health seriously, it's worth it. ❤️
Now, back to these fences.
Obviously, we're talking about two VERY different things, but the principle of prevention still applies.
☀️ Clear sealer: Many clear sealers provide water resistance but little protection against UV damage. Without adequate UV protection, your beautiful cedar can still fade, gray, and weather.
🤎 Quality pigmented stain: Helps shield your wood from UV exposure, repels moisture, and preserves that beautiful cedar appearance.
And YES, you can still achieve that gorgeous, natural cedar look with the right high-end stain!
