Firefighter Corinne McKnight has been a volunteer firefighter with the Brighton Fire Department since August 2025. As a volunteer, Corinne responds to calls from her personal vehicle, while spending a night at the station each week, or during ride time at the station.
Like most, Corinne most enjoys and appreciates the support she receives from her fellow firefighters. “They've been in my shoes learning new skills and it can be difficult, but everyone is so encouraging and wants to see you succeed!”
Corinne joined the BFD after attending its annual Female Firefighter Field Day, our free, hands-on recruitment and training event for women who want to learn what firefighting is like and explore becoming a volunteer firefighter. “I went to support my friends for fun …and ended up really enjoying what I was learning.”
