After a long court case, a lot of shelter time and some amazing people who wouldn't give, Jewlez was able to go home, and stay home restriction free, after being found not guilty. Unfortunately she has been recently diagnosed with cancer and is not doing well. My heart goes out to the family. Please keep them and Jewelz in your thoughts and prayers. Verdict is in on Jewelz and she is.....NOT GUILTY!!!!

There is an opportunity to expand into new and exciting fields of animal welfare for my business. It will take time and work, but I am extremely excited for the future.

I realized I forgot to post pictures of Roxy. Roxy had an incident where she was being kept at the Humane Society (along with her brother Buddy). She was deemed a dangerous dog and was facing the possibility of being euthanized. When I met Roxy for her behavior evaluation she was very sweet and extremely excited to be outdoors and playing ball. I am pleased to say she did go home, as did her brother Buddy.

Still in need of volunteers! Please help if you can. I am going to look into renting a few cargo vans and having 2 drivers per van to make the trip easier. Thank you to those of you who have already offered to help!

After speaking to an old friend of mine I have learned how many dogs have been dumped in Odessa, TX (200 very quickly) and how many need out and would have foster/rescue in Colorado. I have also learned how difficult it is to get transport from Clovis, NM to Colorado. With that said....I would like to try to set up a convoy of volunteers to take a trip with me. I would like to get as many people as possible (before the weather gets bad) to leave on a decided upon date, in the morning, drive to Odessa, TX (approx. 10.5 hours) stay the night and then pick up some pups the following morning. From there we would depart Odessa and travel to Clovis, NM (appox 3.5 hours) and pick up more pups. We would then depart Clovis and head back to the Denver area (approx 7.5 hours to Thronton) and meet the rescues/fosters. It would be a very long second leg as we will have to stop more than once (for us and the dogs) and then make sure the proper rescues get the dogs they tagged. There would probably need to be 2 drivers per vehicle. Who would be willing to take this trip with me if I can arrange it?
It would cost upfront, but transport for rescues is a write off come tax time.

Heidi is doing very well in the short amount of time we have been working together. She still needs her muzzle, but I was able to keep it off for about 70% of the time we spent together. She is beginning to trust me (and I her). Hopefully soon that trust will be extended onto other people as well. That's when the real fun will begin! Not to mention we will be able to spend more time working on a couple of other issues once the main problem is conquered.

Heidi is still debating between loving me and hating me, but each lesson there is a little more love. She ventured out to Home Depot and PetsMart for some socialization, and although it didn't begin well, she did warm up to the idea and loved all of the treats. She even paused for a photo op on the rugs. Probably not what Home Depot had in mind when they placed the stack of rugs there, but it was a nice place to relax and regroup. I am determined to win her over, gain her trust and boost her confidence and I am excited for the day we can go entirely muzzle free!

I am pleased to say that I was given information late last week that two of the dogs I have been working with are going HOME! The DA was originally asking for the pair (or at least one) to be euthanized. However I was told that largely due to my evaluation/report they will be allowed to return home, with conditions of course. Apparently the DA, the animal control officer and a third party said my report was extremely thought out, well written and covered everything they would have asked, or thought of, and therefore they all agreed with my recommendations and behavior assessment and agreed to allow the dogs to return to their owners. There are a few things the owners must do previous to picking their pups up, but they should be going home soon.
