I like to imagine that this was painted by an expat American living in Venezuela in order to let the new regime know that his bodega loves them. But then for some reason the painting got re wrapped and is now rotting on the shelf of your local goodwill.

Because who are the real winners? What was the thin veiled reason we did regime change?

I hope the money is that good. Can it buy you forgiveness? Do you think that it should?

This one is next to impossible to photograph but I really really like how it turned out.

I saw this lady on a hot summer night at twilite lounge a couple years ago. It was the middle of summer and she was wearing moon boots… bad ass. I really wanted to capture the idea that it was July and she was wearing moon boots but I am not sure how effective I was at capturing the former. I miss those days. those were some fun hot summer nights.

Proof uploaded I went to drawing on 4•6•26. I don’t know why that HST quote popped into my head while I was drawing. I feel like I unlocked something last night, like when Dax gave me the smooth blender, previously I was focused solely on the shadow tones in the drawing but last night I decided to smudge the entire drawing after the first 20min which gave me the tones on the lit side of the figure. (I can’t remember what they’re called) and that really helped the drawing out. I don’t know why I haven’t been doing this… it also helped to just smudge out the drawing after the first part of the session so that I wasn’t so attached to the drawing and could re-edit areas that were off. Smudging it gave me that sense of play, and that’s also why I use sharpies to start with, because if you f**k up a drawing with sharpie you have an excuse as to why it doesn’t look good, you were trying to draw the figure w a sharpie of course it doesn’t look good. (And the inverse of that makes you look good cuz then ppl are like holy s**t you did that w a sharpie, being an artist is about having these little tricks, like calling it plein air painting instead of outdoor painting) I have been trying to keep it fun and playful recently. During the winter I was kind of too serious about it (like coke rage). Ai overview: artist learns the key to drawing is midtones, and playfulness.

“What is Effluent?”
My most recent piece is inspired by the reflection of the water being returned to the natural system after being treated at salt lakes waste water treatment facility. We recently got a tour there and it was truly inspiring to see how we’re all connected and how something we sort of take for granted is there doing its thing to keep our city livable. Proof uploaded. I went to drawing on 3•23•26. First time back in a few months. I always like the drawings I do the first time back. I was really focusing on trying to have fun and keep it loose. I really love doing up lighting.
