Composites Alliance of Rhode Island was formed to grow this sector and ensure purchasers of composites technology around the world know about the strong capabilities resident in the state. The Composites Alliance also provides a nexus where these Rhode Island companies can share expertise and ideas and focuses on workforce-development programs to ensure a skilled labor pool.

SOFWERX, in concert with United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) PEO-Maritime (PEO-M), will host a Virtual Assessment Event to identify techniques and technologies to reduce the dry and wet weight of the Dry Combat Submersible.

PEO-M is exploring options available to reduce both the weight out of water and weight in the water (with the priority on wet weight) through the use of advanced materials, composite designs, and manufacturing techniques.
