Isochrones are used to show travel times on a map. Road closures can turn an emergency trip to the hospital from a quick 10 minute ride to 40 minutes or more. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can model the effects of how different emergency events can effect response times for emergency services and help plan ahead how to adapt.

This is an example of a larger project showcasing how widespread the American Expeditionary Force efforts and resources stretched across France during World War I in support of the front line battlefields. It also highlights the importance of railway transport at the time, as nearly all locations fall along a railway (black lines). Part of the work included creating 30 custom symbols to help visualize American efforts at each location.
