A sweet little C85 with a secret, now equipped with an O200 crank, rods, and pistons. Hopefully the owner enjoys some more performance. Upon dissembling we also found this engine was on borrowed time. With a badly spun #1 rod bearing among other issues.

If you didn't already know, paint or powder coat doesn't belong on torqued assemblies. This very low time "Overhaul" is getting a new case after this decorative mistake was made. Almost causing the complete departure of a cylinder assembly. Sometimes the cheapest shop out there might cost you more than some repairs.

Also while I have your attention, have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy time with family and friends. Eat too much good food and laugh until it hurts.

Decided to pick up a 3d printer for the shop and after some trial and learning a CAD program in the evenings. We now have reusable cover plates for transporting engines or making sure hardware doesn't find its way inside an engine during work. Pretty happy with the results.

Ever have one of those weeks? Social media isn't a good indicator because we only share our successes and wins. Well this week was frustrating to say the least. One of my most important pieces of equipment cut the malfunction light on in a big way. Luckily Electric Motor sales & services Inc down the road that had the exact motor in stock we needed. Then to top it off a crank I've been patiently waiting for came back not wrapped and oiled in the packaging. This goes to show just how fast your parts can rust. In just over a week in a box the crank looked like this. Thankfully they're standing behind their work and putting a rush on making it right. The shop looks like a whirlwind came through and I spent most of Friday cleaning, organizing and regrouping. That helps remove some of the chaos and helps draw focus back to the important items.

When days get hard focus on the basics, take care of the priority items and most importantly do the work.

Carb fires are an unfortunate occurrence, but luckily this owner acted fast and used the on board extinguisher quickly. A cracked cylinder led to the discovery of a wiped cam and hand full of other worn parts. So it was Decided to Overhaul the engine, and now it's time to send it back to it's airframe.
