Public Notice: Planned Slash Burns – November 5th, 2025

These controlled burns are an important part of forest management and wildfire prevention. Helping to reduce leftover logging debris and lowering the risk of large wildfires in future seasons.

As these burns take place, smoke may be visible from many areas across the district. All landowners conducting burns are required to follow CFPA regulations, obtain proper permits, and burn only under approved weather conditions.

Today's burn locations include:
•South of Gold Beach near Carpenterville and South to Brookings
•North and South bank Chetco River
•North East of Coquille near Fairview
•South of Coos Bay between Hwy101 and Hwy42
•East of Bridge in the Remote area

Smoke will be highly visible from Hwy 101, Hwy 42, and surrounding areas.

We appreciate the public’s understanding as this critical work takes place to keep our forests and communities safer.

10/12/2025

Effective Tomorrow, Saturday, October 11th, 2025. Fire Season and the Regulated Use Closure will be terminated.

Debris burning is now allowed, but please keep your burns limited to wood and paper products. Paper products should be burned in an enclosed area with a screen, such as a burn barrel, to prevent large ash particles from escaping.

For safety, we recommend the following guidelines for debris burning:
•Clear Surroundings: Ensure that the area around the burn pile is cleared of any flammable materials.
•Fire Tools and Water: Have fire tools (such as shovels and rakes) and a sufficient supply of water readily available at the burn site.
•Attend the Fire: Remain in attendance until the burn pile is completely out. Do not leave the site unattended at any time.

CFPA would like to thank everyone for their cooperation this fire season!
