Why should you use a red hue for your child's night light?
1. Assists in melatonin production:
β Red light is a natural way of getting our body to produce melatonin, the sleep hormone
2. Helps fear of the dark:
β Starting around 18 months, your toddler might express a fear of the dark. At this time you can introduce a night light
β Using a red light won't be stimulating to your child like a white or blue like would
3. Red light regulates circadian rhythm:
β Red light can help our bodies establish a strong circadiam rhythm because of the way it helps us produce melatonin
4. Counters blue light:
β Even children are exposed to lots of blue light during the day. Blue light is a stimulant and can affect sleep
β Having a red hue night light can help their bodies produce melatonin, countering the blue light exposure
5. Mimics sunset:
β Red light mimics the sunlight, which signals to our bodies that it is time to go to sleep
