How to Properly Create Variations on Amazon

Creating variations on Amazon can significantly enhance the shopping experience for customers. Variations allow buyers to compare and choose products based on different attributes such as size, color, or other characteristics from the available options on a single product detail page. However, creating these variations improperly can lead to a negative customer experience and may result in the suspension of your ASIN creation or selling privileges. Here’s a comprehensive guide to ensure you create variations correctly and avoid common pitfalls.

What are Variations?

Variations are sets of products that are related to one another. A well-constructed variation relationship allows buyers to see all related products on a single product detail page, facilitating easier comparison and selection. This setup can improve customer satisfaction and potentially boost your sales.

Prohibited practices in variation creation

To maintain a positive customer experience, Amazon has strict guidelines on how variations should be created and managed. Here are some prohibited practices that you must avoid:

1. Changing the product's detail page (parent or child) to become fundamentally different from the original product listed.

2. Changing the parent product's detail page so it does not match the children.

3. Adding incorrect child variations that are not true variations of the parent product, which includes:

- Adding products that are fundamentally different from the parent ASIN.
- Adding product images and/or names that are fundamentally different from the parent ASIN.
- Adding newer versions or models of the parent ASIN as variations.

4. Adding multi-pack variations that aren’t manufacturer-created to an already existing parent. Avoid bundling multiple individual packs (e.g., combining two three-packs to create a six-pack) as variations unless they are packaged by the manufacturer.

Best practices for creating variations

To ensure your variations are correctly listed and provide a seamless shopping experience for customers, follow these best practices:

1. Ensure that the titles and descriptions of your parent and child products are clear and accurately reflect the product’s attributes.

2. Use high-quality images that accurately represent the product and its variations. Ensure consistency across all child products to avoid confusing customers.

3. Only group products that are true variations of each other. For example, different colors or sizes of the same product should be listed as variations, while different product models should have separate listings.

4. Regularly review your product listings to ensure they comply with Amazon's policies. Update any discrepancies promptly to avoid issues.

Creating variations correctly can significantly enhance your customers' shopping experience and improve your sales performance on Amazon. By following these guidelines and avoiding prohibited practices, you can maintain a positive customer experience and protect your selling privileges.

Greetings from the Solver team!

Do you know what is prohibited from writing to buyers and how you can't request feedback? Let's break it down in detail in our post.

What is prohibited from writing to buyers via Buyer-Seller Messages?

1. Order or shipping confirmations.
2. Messages that only say "Thank you" or that you are here to help if buyers have problems.
3. Marketing or promotional messages, including coupons.
4. Incentivizing or persuading a buyer to leave positive feedback about a product or seller, including offering compensation, money, gift cards, free or discounted products, refunds, rebates or refunds, or future benefits.
2. Request to remove or modify an existing product review.
3. Request product reviews only if they have had a positive experience with the product.
4. Repeatedly request (for each order) a product review or seller review.

Amazon has a zero-tolerance policy for any violation of customer reviews. If any attempts to manipulate customer reviews are discovered, there are the following consequences for the seller:

1. Immediate and permanent disqualification of the seller from selling on Amazon and a money freeze.
2. Remove all reviews for the item and prevent future reviews or re-reviews.
3. Permanently delisting a product from Amazon
4. Legal action against the seller, including lawsuits and recourse to civil and criminal law enforcement agencies.
5. Public disclosure of the seller's name and other relevant information.

If you need additional clarification on this matter, please do not hesitate to contact us via our website www.solver-consulting.com

Navigating Amazon Restriction Violations: A Guide for Sellers

In online retail, understanding how to effectively appeal restriction violations is crucial for maintaining a successful business. As platforms like Amazon heighten their vigilance against policy breaches, Amazon sellers must stay informed about potential pitfalls. This article delves into the complex terrain of restriction violations, outlining the nature of these infringements, methods for analyzing and appealing them, and the likelihood of overturning such decisions.

Overview of Restriction Violations

Restriction violations in online platforms can range from minor infractions to serious legal breaches. Common violations include:

- Order Defect Rate Issues: Exceeding the platform's threshold for defective or problematic orders.
- Shipment Rate Violations: Failing to adhere to the prescribed shipment rates and timelines.
- Intellectual Property Infringements: Selling counterfeit goods or violating intellectual property rights.
- Product Safety Concerns: Product Listing items that fail to meet safety standards.
- Negative Feedback Accumulation: Receiving excessive negative feedback from customers.
- Terms of Service Breaches: Violating the terms of service agreed upon with the platform.

The consequences of these violations can be severe, ranging from temporary restrictions to permanent amazon seller account suspension. Amazon expects these issues seriously to maintain trust and quality within their ecosystems.

Methods of Appeal

When it comes to appealing restriction violations on platforms like Amazon, the most effective strategy often revolves around a well-crafted Plan of Action (POA). This approach is particularly crucial when Amazon communicates a time limit for response, signaling the urgency and seriousness of the issue.

- Plan of Action (POA): This is the cornerstone of the reinstatement process, especially effective when Amazon imposes time constraints. A POA should be meticulously detailed, clearly outlining the steps you intend to take to rectify the issue and ensure future compliance. This plan must be realistic, actionable, and tailored to address the specific reasons behind the amazon seller account suspension for violation notice.
- Emphasizing Immediate Action: Given the time-sensitive nature of these appeals, it's crucial to respond promptly with a POA. Delaying or submitting a generic plan can severely diminish the chances of a successful appeal.
- Health Account Contact: If Amazon has specifically mentioned contacting Health account representatives, it's important to act on this. Solver team has successfully mitigated Order Defect Rate (ODR) issues through direct communication, either by receiving calls from Amazon's team or by initiating contact through the designated button in the Amazon seller central account
- This direct engagement can be a decisive factor in quickly resolving the issue and reinstating selling privileges.
- Specific ASIN Requests: If the appeal involves a specific product listing (ASIN), using cases to demonstrate your compliance and innocence can be effective, mainly if the suspending your account is due to an error on Amazon's part.
- Case Log Strategy: When you're not at fault, documenting your case thoroughly in the case log can be instrumental. This approach works best when there’s clear evidence that Amazon suspends by mistake. Detailed documentation and evidence showcasing your compliance and rectification efforts are key in these scenarios.

Legal Practice and Likelihood of Success

When it comes to the success of appealing restriction violations, several key factors play a critical role. It's essential to recognize that these appeals often have a high rate of success when the initial appeal is filed promptly, ideally within the 48 or 72-hour deadline provided by the platform. This timeliness signals to the platform your commitment to resolving the issue and complying with their policies.

- Seller Performance: The historical performance and compliance records of the seller are crucial. A consistent track record of adhering to platform policies and low rates of previous violations weigh heavily in your favor. Amazon Sellers with a history of compliance often find their appeals are met with more leniency.
- Quality of the Appeal: The comprehensiveness and persuasiveness of the appeal submitted cannot be overstated. A well-structured, clear, and detailed appeal, especially one that effectively uses a Plan of Action, can significantly increase the chances of success. It should directly address the specific issues raised and provide a concrete plan for remediation and future compliance.
- Nature of the Violation: The severity and type of violation play a significant role in the appeal's outcome. Less severe or accidental violations are generally more likely to be overturned compared to repeated or serious breaches.

The Issue of Repeated Violations

It's important to note that repeated violations can complicate the reinstatement process. If a seller is found to be in breach of the same or similar rules multiple times, it raises concerns about their commitment to platform standards. This can lead to stricter scrutiny and higher requirements for subsequent appeals. In extreme cases, if a pattern of repeated violations is observed, the platform may decide to deactivate the account without the possibility of account reinstatement permanently. This is because each appeal essentially contains a promise that the problem has been resolved, and recurrent violations contradict this assurance.

The Importance of Adherence to Guidelines

Remember, the process of appealing restriction violations has its limits. Platforms like Amazon are increasingly stringent with their policies, and the window for rectifying mistakes can narrow with each violation. It is, therefore, paramount for Amazon sellers to not only address current issues thoroughly but also to implement measures that prevent future violations. This proactive approach demonstrates a long-term commitment to upholding the platform’s standards and can influence the reinstatement process.

In summary, the likelihood of successfully appealing a restriction violation hinges on timely and well-crafted appeals, a clean track record, and the nature of the violation itself. Repeated violations compound the difficulty of successful appeals and can lead to irreversible consequences, underscoring the importance of strict adherence to platform policies and proactive measures to avoid recurrent issues.

Case Studies: Successful Appeals

A notable case involved a client engaged in dropshipping whose account faced repeated Order Defect Rate (ODR) issues. This client had their account blocked seven times, a situation that typically spells doom for most Amazon sellers due to the escalating severity of each violation. However, our team managed to successfully reinstate the client's account each time, showcasing our expertise and deep understanding of Amazon's appeal process.

- The Challenge: The client's drop shipping model led to frequent ODR spikes, primarily due to delays and issues with product quality and customer satisfaction. These are critical factors that Amazon monitors closely.
- Solver Team's Strategy: Our approach involved a meticulous analysis of the client's business model, identifying the root causes of the recurring ODR issues. We then crafted the Plan of Action (POA) for each appeal, which addressed Amazon's immediate concerns and outlined long-term strategies to prevent future violations.
- Outcome: Despite the client's account being blocked multiple times, our POAs successfully demonstrated to Amazon that effective measures were being implemented to rectify the issues. The client's account was reinstated each time, albeit with the understanding that future violations could lead to irreversible consequences.

FAQ

What if a Black Hat Seller Sabotaged Me?

In the event of sabotage by a Black Hat seller, it's essential to gather comprehensive evidence and present a well-structured case to the platform. This should include clear documentation of the sabotage, such as screenshots, communication records, and any other relevant information that demonstrates the malicious activity. The objective is to provide Amazon with a compelling, factual narrative that clearly separates your actions from the illicit activities of the Black Hat seller.

Do Many Amazon Sellers Get Suspended?

Suspension of Amazon seller accounts is a relatively common occurrence, often resulting from misunderstandings of Amazon's policies or inadvertent oversights by the sellers. It's important to understand that Amazon's policies are extensive and can be complex, and even experienced sellers can find themselves non-compliant due to changes in policies or misunderstandings. This underlines the importance of regularly reviewing Amazon’s terms and staying updated with any policy changes.

What Should I Do if My Account Was Deactivated?

Upon receiving notification of account deactivation, it's crucial to act swiftly. The first step is to thoroughly review the reasons provided by Amazon for the deactivation. Understanding the specific reasons for the suspension is key to developing an effective Plan of Action (POA) for account reinstatement. This POA should address each point raised by Amazon, offering clear and actionable steps that you will take to rectify the issues and prevent future occurrences.

How do I Complain to Amazon Directly?

If you need to lodge a complaint or appeal a decision made by Amazon, the most direct and effective channel is Amazon Seller Central. It provides a structured way to communicate with Amazon's support team and track the progress of your appeal or complaint. It’s important to provide a clear and concise explanation of your issue, along with any supporting documents or evidence that can assist in resolving your query. Remember, maintaining a professional and cooperative tone in your communications can aid in a more favorable outcome.

Final Thoughts

Navigating the intricacies of restriction violations and appeals is a challenging but essential aspect of online selling. By understanding the types of violations, methods of appeal, and factors influencing the success of these appeals, sellers can better equip themselves to handle these situations effectively and maintain their online presence.

Greetings from the Solver team!

Today we want to talk to you about the potential consequences of registering an account with the same documents if your first registration attempt was unsuccessful.

Sometimes, when an account registration attempt fails (for instance, if verification of a passport or bank statement was unsuccessful), Amazon sends a notification suggesting that you try again using a different email. However, such actions can have very undesirable consequences, which we will discuss below.

In recent months, we have seen a significant increase in customer inquiries about Amazon blocking their active accounts due to relations with another account (related accounts suspension). The distinctive feature of these cases is that the linked account does not actually exist - it was never fully registered.

As a result, sellers find themselves in a practically hopeless situation. Breaking the connection between accounts in such cases is impossible because they are registered with the same documents, which are critical relations.

So, how should you properly proceed if your account registration was unsuccessful?

The first and most important thing is to NOT register an account with the same documents using a different email. Despite Amazon's notifications recommending this course of action, it is a trap that, unfortunately, many sellers have already fallen into.

No one knows when Amazon's system will trigger and link the two accounts. This could happen immediately, in a month, a year, or several years later. However, the risk always remains.

The only viable option is to register a new account with entirely new data and new documents: passport, company registration documents, bank information - everything must be different. This will help make the start of your activity on Amazon safe and avoid "burying" your business just as it is getting started.

May the beginning of your work on Amazon be as smooth as possible! If you need our help, you can always contact us at solver-consulting.com, where we are available and ready to assist.

Hello from the Solver team!

As you're aware, Amazon implemented an additional annual verification in April 2023, per the new Consumer INFORM Act. It's been a little over a year since the last verification period, and our clients have already begun receiving new requests for the Consumer INFORM Act.

This post will answer the most common question regarding the Consumer INFORM Act 2024: What should you do if your contact person or business address has changed over the past year?

1) Change of contact person. Before starting the verification process, you need to update this information if there have been changes over the past year. You can do this in the Identity/Legal Entity section. You will need an ID (passport or driver's license) + a bank account statement or credit card statement in the name and residential address of the new contact person you specify in this section.

2) Change of business address. If your business address was also changed during the previous year, you must update it before completing/confirming the information for the Consumer INFORM Act. You need to change it in the Business Addresses section and select it as "active".

Please note: when changing the business address, Amazon will require you to receive a postcard. However, if Amazon doesn't support sending postcards to your country, the system will not offer any alternatives.

To confirm a business address not supported by Amazon, you must contact the Seller Identity Verification Team. You can do this through cases or the relevant email addresses of this team or third-party organizations.

Please note: to verify your business address, not supported by Amazon, successfully, you must provide Amazon support with a Utility Bill in the account owner's name + new address you have chosen as "active". Your Utility Bill must be in English or any other supported by Amazon language. If you have a Utility Bill in a local language that Amazon does not support, it must be translated into English by a translation agency and notarized by your local notary.

Feel free to contact us through www.solver-consulting.com if you need any help with verification under the Consumer INFORM Act!

NEW APPEAL RULES FOR DEFECTIVE: PLAN OF ACTION IS NO LONGER NEEDED?

Amazon's rules are very dynamic and constantly changing. The changes we want to discuss today are related to solving the Product condition complaint – Defective.

Defective is a problem that can arise if customers often complain that your product does not work, arrives to customers in an improper condition, etc. Previously, such violations were resolved according to a standard scheme: writing a Plan of Action with a clear definition of the Root Cause of the problem and the actions you took to correct it and prevent its recurrence in the future.

Recently, Amazon changed its stance on Defective appeals. Now, the Plan of Action is not only not mandatory but can also cause your submission to be rejected. The new appeal form clearly states that the Plan of Action for this type of violation is not accepted, and the appeal will be automatically rejected.

So, how can you now resolve the Defective warning on the listing?Your actions should depend on the Root Cause of the problem. Depending on the reason, you need to implement certain changes in your activities and business: change the contract with the supplier, update the information on the listing, provide customers with more detailed instructions on how to use the product, etc.

After that, you need to demonstrate these changes to the responsible team by providing "before" and "after" documents (screenshots). You must clearly show what exactly you changed to prevent future listing violations. Also, an invoice is a mandatory document to be attached to the appeal.

Remember, you're not alone in this process. We're here to support you. If anything remains unclear, don't hesitate to reach out to us through solver-consulting.com. We're always ready to assist you in navigating these changes and ensuring your success.

Welcome to Solver!

Today, we will be happy to share information about where to look for the documents that Amazon requires to activate your account suspended for "related."

There are many reasons and scenarios for a "related" suspension—starting with the user permission you shared with your account manager and ending with the sharing of a trademark. In any case, you would not want to be associated with an offending account that has been suspended. To this end, Amazon offers any seller who believes they have been mistakenly linked to another account the opportunity to appeal the decision and activate their account.

Amazon has outlined several common scenarios, which you can review and select from in the Appeals section. It's crucial to understand the process before making any appeal, whether it's a listing violation or suspension. Don't hesitate to explore all the tabs with the proposed submission options. Remember, only the "submit" button is final and leads to sending your appeal or POA.

Since Amazon must ensure that you have nothing to do with the related account, the platform requires several documents proving your non-involvement.

Consider some of the most popular related scenarios and the documents required for an appeal.

The first scenario. Your account has been associated with an unknown account, but you contacted third-party contractors to provide services to your account, for example, with PPC. In this case, you should carefully examine your account's information sections and find out where the information that caused the connection is specified. Let's say you gave the user permission. In such a case, you must remove such user permission and provide Amazon with contracts with such contractors, contracts for providing services to you, proof of payments to such employees, and an agreement terminating such relations. You can also file an appeal, in which you should indicate the reason for the occurrence of related, and what actions you took to solve this problem.

The second scenario is a business partner. It often happens that sellers cooperate and, in the process of work, can distribute the same information between accounts. For example, bank accounts, trademarks, selling joint goods, and so on. Suppose your account has been suspended for associating with such a partner. In that case, you must provide Amazon with the partnership agreement, proof of payments to such a partner, other proof of settlement, and the Partnership Termination Agreement.

These are just a few examples of scenarios you can choose from. However, it's vital to remember that any document you submit to Amazon must meet specific requirements and criteria for your submission to be accepted. Adhering to these guidelines will not only validate your appeal but also expedite the process of reactivating your account.

If you have any questions about related accounts, please contact Solver via Facebook or our website: www.solver-consulting.com

What is beneficial ownership information (BOI)?

BOI refers to identifying information about individuals who directly or indirectly own or control a company.

The Reporting Rule requires certain organizations to file Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Who is the beneficial owner of the reporting company?

A beneficial owner is an individual who, directly or indirectly, (1) exercises significant control over the reporting company or (2) owns or controls at least a 25% ownership interest in the reporting company.

Which companies will be required to report beneficial ownership information to FinCEN?

There are two types of reporting companies:

Domestic companies are corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs), and any other entity created by filing a document with the Secretary of State or any similar office in the United States.

Foreign companies are entities (including corporations and limited liability companies) created under the laws of another state that have registered to do business in the United States.

When do you have to file a report?

Reports will be accepted beginning January 1, 2024.

Reporting companies created or registered to do business before January 1, 2024 will have additional time, until January 1, 2025, to file their initial BOI reports.

Reporting companies formed or incorporated on or after January 1, 2024 will have 90 days after receiving notice of their company's formation or incorporation to file their initial BOI reports.

Starting January 1, 2024, BOI reports must be filed electronically.

Writing an effective appeal for a violation of defects on Amazon is crucial for sellers to maintain their standing and resolve issues impacting customer satisfaction. Here’s a structured guide on how to craft such an appeal:

Understanding a Defective Violation.

A defective violation occurs when customers frequently report issues with a product, such as defects, misrepresentation, or dissatisfaction. Such violations can lead to penalties from Amazon, including account suspension.

Identifying the Cause of Complaints.

Analyze the nature and frequency of complaints to determine the primary reason for customer dissatisfaction. Ask as many “why” questions as necessary to find the root cause of your specific issue. Gather evidence showing the identified problem and any steps already taken to address it.

Writing a Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Plan of Action structure:
- Reasons: Mention the ASIN, categorize complaints, and explain the issue.
- Accountability: Emphasize that the responsibility lies with the account owner, not employees.
- Preventive Measures: Outline steps to prevent future issues, such as improving product quality or revising product descriptions.
- Corrective Actions: Describe actions implemented to rectify the issue, like enhancing quality control or updating product instructions.
- Evidence-Based Approach: Provide tangible evidence of changes made and their effectiveness. Don’t forget about the invoice!

Conclusion.

The key to your successful reinstatement is taking responsibility, identifying the root cause, and implementing corrective and preventive measures. A well-structured appeal with clear evidence and a solid action plan can be your best instrument to address violations effectively and restore good standing with Amazon.

Additional Tips.

- Clarity and Conciseness: Keep the appeal clear and to the point.
- Timeliness: Respond promptly to Amazon’s notification of the violation.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional tone throughout the appeal.
- Follow-up: Be prepared to provide additional information or clarification if Amazon requests it.

By following this structured approach, Amazon sellers can more effectively address defective violations, demonstrating their commitment to customer satisfaction and compliance with Amazon’s standards.

Greetings from the Solver team!

Today, we want to share the case of verifying the Payoneer account through the Amazon storefront link.

We received a request to undergo verification of the Payoneer account for use within the Merch by Amazon framework. Every platform user eventually receives a standard verification of the Payoneer account. You just need to complete a short survey and send the URL of your Amazon storefront to Payoneer.

However, it's important to note that Merch by Amazon platform lacks the functionality of storefronts; they simply do not exist there. Nevertheless, the Payoneer system required us to provide something that doesn't actually exist. Therefore, we had to contact a specific Payoneer support representative through the standard communication channel - email ([email protected]).

Our inquiry involved describing the issue with the storefront on the Merch by Amazon platform + providing alternative evidence that this Payoneer account would be used exclusively for Merch by Amazon business purposes.

As part of the alternative evidence, we attached the following files:

1) A screenshot from the Business Addresses section to confirm the match of the address + name between Merch by Amazon and Payoneer;
2) A screenshot from the Login Settings section to confirm that the phone number and email match between Merch by Amazon and Payoneer accounts;
3) A screenshot from the Deposit Method section to confirm that this Payoneer bank account is linked to the Merch by Amazon account;
4) A screenshot of the address from the Payoneer account itself to once again demonstrate support that the information between the addresses in Payoneer and Merch by Amazon is identical.

Two days later, Payoneer support informed us that they apologize for any inconvenience and that our Payoneer account was successfully verified.

If you encounter a similar issue (not only with Merch by Amazon), feel free to contact us through our website, www.solver-consulting.com, so our team can help you successfully and quickly pass the verification!
