Reflecting on the work we’ve done in bringing the community together in our space and providing a feeling of safety, room for growth, and a place to call home for over 100+ participants in our Lighting Social. December will officially make 2 YEARS since we started The Lighting Social and we’re excited to celebrate that milestone while also crafting ways to bring more depth and value to what it is we provide as educators in our industry. We’re back with The Lighting Social (6.23.24) and we’re excited to see some new and old faces! For those who are new here: The Lighting Social is a group learning experience where photographers of different skill levels get to learn lighting, gain new skills, engage and build community. This month’s social will be hosted and taught by and will focus on beauty lighting.

So last week we celebrated CoLab Studios: The Lighting Social hitting our One Year Anniversary with some of the Socialights who have made this possible. We created a mini 2023 Yearbook to commemorate all of your contributions.
It’s been an amazing year of growth, the community has expanded beyond our imagination and the level of artwork we’ve seen our students produce truly makes us proud. We set out with one intention: making photo education accessible. And have since done over 29 Workshops, worked with over 80+ students, connected with several models, make up artists, wardrobe stylists, and other photo educators and we’re looking forward to what this year has to offer!
Over the next few weeks we’ll be highlighting the work of our Socialights. Showcasing the photography that has been produced thru the socials as well as some of their personal works so keep an eye out for that! And thank you all for making The Lighting Social one of New York’s best sources for photography education!
