LE BIZARRE NOIR PRESS RELEASE : DECEMBER 2021
Raleigh native Daniel Chavis of The band The Veldt created the idea of Noir Bizarre in response to not being accepted and included in mainstream/indie circles usually deemed White/Exclusive “Black”/or other. He came to the conclusion that diversity in programming festivals and anything remotely Psych/Shoegaze /of color was pretty much nonexistent and instead of complaining he just did his own thing. Le Bizarre Noir (NOIR BIZARRE) “STRANGE BLACK) a play on words and in reclaiming the idea that exploring works by people of color often unbeknownst to a mainstream audience “ who had no idea we existed”. Chavis wants to include everyone who is “strange and black” regardless of their background or sexual orientation, “ offering something between Hillbillies and Hip Hop”. Noir Bizarre is a mobile multimedia event covering the "grey" areas of Bohemia and Afrofuturist creatives. We invite the local Triangle community to experience the bohemian side of this Black Futurist manifesto in art, music and other endeavors.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
THE VELDT
“The brothers Chavis have been musical outsiders ever since they were both kicked out of their local church choir. Their combination of fuzzed-out audiences and moody soul mystified audiences in the 90s – but now pop music has finally caught up with them, two decades on..” (The Guardian UK)
THE MUSLIMS
THE MUSLIMS is a crunchy, kickass punk band of Black + brown q***r muzzies. Your racist dad is a piece of s**t and THIS IS NOT A SAFE SPACE.
HONEYCHILD COLEMAN (The 1865 / Bachslider)
The 1865 describe themselves as “Bad Brains meets Foo Fighters in a black woman’s hair salon for a cup of tea.”
OYASABA, the Flatbush Sound
Touring the world as a member of Atlanta-based Deerhunter 2016-2017, inspired a strong momentum which resulted in four self-released albums: a collection of love songs ,vignettes seen through venetian blind eyes, and outrage exhaustion regarding the ongoing reckoning of our socio-political follies.
DJ PANGEAN
Local DJ Pangean spins an eclectic mix of House and Cold Wave / Post Punk.
