Originally from Japan, Chef Hiroshi Kitano has established a distinctive presence in Montréal’s culinary scene, bringing his passion for Japanese cuisine to Kitano Shokudo, a local destination known for its inviting atmosphere and thoughtfully curated sake selection.

We’re pleased to share that Kitano Shokudo is currently featuring a selection of Nanbu Bijin, including Tokubetsu Junmai, Junmai Ginjo, Shinpaku, and Umeshu.

If you’re in Montréal, we invite you to visit Kitano Shokudo and experience these expressions of Nanbu Bijin alongside their Japanese cuisine.

Kampai Montréal 🍶

Last week, we were excited to participate in Kampai Montréal, one of the city’s biggest celebrations of sake, featuring 株式会社 南部美人!

We love connecting with sake enthusiasts, industry professionals, and new audiences who share our passion for Japanese sake. This year was especially exciting as we’re thrilled to share that Nanbu Bijin is now officially available in the Montréal market! 🇯🇵🍶

Kanpai! to Sake Day by DC Sake cō (Delivering Sake🍶to your door) in Washington, D.C. 🍶

This very special celebration is more than just an opportunity to taste sake — it is a gathering of the people, relationships, and stories that continue to shape the sake community in the U.S.

This year was particularly meaningful as we welcomed Kosuke Kuji President of 株式会社 南部美人, for the VIP session, where guests had the opportunity to taste through the Nanbu Bijin lineup while hearing stories directly from the brewery. It was also a beautiful reminder of the longstanding connection between Kuji-san and Reiko-san — a relationship that goes back to the early days of D.C. Sake and helped lay the foundation for what has grown into this wonderful community today.

What Reiko-san has created over the past five years is truly special. This community continues to come together because of her passion, generosity, and commitment to bringing people closer to sake and to one another.

We are so grateful to be part of it.
Congratulations, Reiko-san and we love you! ❤️🍶

Another successful event in the books at Brooklyn Kura for Sake Day Brooklyn! 🍶

Thank you to the Brooklyn Kura team for having us and, of course, to everyone who came out to celebrate sake with us. The evening was an absolute whirlwind; busy from start to finish, with so many guests coming together to taste, discover, and enjoy an incredible variety of sake.

It was wonderful to see sake from Japan alongside the growing community of sake being brewed right here in New York. A true celebration of sake and the people bringing it to new audiences. We poured Nanbu Bijin Umeshu, Yuzu Lemon, Yano Umami, Daishichi Classic, Tsukino Katsura Iwai 88 and Amabuki Banana kanzake with a hint of cinnamon.

Until next time, Brooklyn! Kanpai! 🍶

Celebrating World Sake Day! 🍶

October 1 marks World Sake Day, a time to celebrate Japan’s rich sake heritage, the craftsmanship of its brewers, and the traditions that bring people together over a shared love of sake.

Today, we raise a glass to the brewers, producers, and sake enthusiasts who continue to preserve this beautiful tradition while bringing sake to new audiences around the world.

An evening at zoku Yakitori in Los Angeles, enjoying yakitori, sake, and great company 🍶

Our brewers had a wonderful evening exploring the menu, paired with a beautiful bottle of Nanbu Bijin Daiginjo. There’s nothing quite like sharing good food and sake together.

September is one of our busiest months of the year, with sake producers from Japan traveling across the U.S. for trade shows, tastings, and industry events.

We always look forward to welcoming our brewery partners and connecting them with our restaurant, bar, and retail community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn directly from the producers and share what’s happening in the U.S. sake market.

This time, we were excited to welcome 月の桂 Masuda Tokubee Shoten Inc. showcasing their lineup in New York for the first time since joining the MTC SAKE | New York Mutual Trading distribution network. We look forward to sharing more of their exceptional sake with you all.

There’s truly no better way to enjoy exceptional sushi and sake than in the company of great people and a few special pours along the way.

Welcome to New York, Kinosh*ta-san! And thank you Nozomu Abe, for an unforgettable evening.

The man, the myth, the legend: Kayama san from Hiroyasu Kayama made his presence felt at Yawning Cobra last night.

Five incredible cocktails, one whirlwind of a magical night, and an absolute treat to experience his drinks behind the bar.

There’s something truly special about watching a master at work: every drink, every detail, every moment.

We love working with our clients to thoughtfully tailor sake selections for each occasion. Recently, we poured Tsukino Katsura Iwai Junmai from Fushimi, Kyoto, and it was a major hit.

Made with locally grown Iwai rice cultivated by select farmers using pesticide-free methods, this sake is deliberately left at a low polishing ratio of 88% to preserve the rice’s rich, full-bodied character and natural sweetness. It offers concentrated umami with a smooth, refreshing finish and an inviting aroma reminiscent of freshly steamed rice.

Have you tried this expression of 月の桂 Masuda Tokubee Shoten Inc. Iwai?
