Designer Collections by FRA

We are happy to announce the kick-off of our Designer Collections, beginning with Léon Krier, Richard Manion (Richard Manion Architecture) and Richard Sammons (Fairfax and Sammons). The purpose of these collections is to showcase modern plaster through the design genius of our most prestigious friends and customers. All FRA profits from the sale of these designs will go toward education in the plaster trade. Full descriptions can be found on the 'Catalogs' page of our website – www.fraplaster.com

Here are a few images of a recently completed project in SF. We provided all the paint-grade trim and paneling in hydrocal plaster. Monolithic screwless mud-set installation to GWB substrate = no movement, no cracking, not screw-pops, i.e. no maintenance, along with unlimited design possibilities.

Project location: San Francisco, CA
Architect: Skurman Architects

We were happy to help decorate the tables at Old Westbury Gardens’ Preservation Dinner Gala. OWG is an important part of the historic fabric of the US with both a monumental mansion and world-class gardens. We are proud to be involved in the preservation work at OWG, and we encourage anyone with an appetite for history to visit and donate to this most worthy institution.

This week, we focus on a project that challenged design architect Richard Cameron to create beauty and interest on a low-ceilinged historic home outside of Philadelphia.

The living and dining rooms received a shallow coffer with 4 corner panels inspired by the window bays at Kronborg Castle near Copenhagen. In the Living Room, the embossed geometric motif is punctuated by 4 unique floral center ellipses, and in the Dining Room by 4 unique circular garden vegetable motifs. Scroll to see all.

PRECAST CEILINGS #1: We want to showcase a series of precast GFRG ceilings to share some of the extraordinary designs and efficiencies that this program brings to the interior built environment. Our first post in this series shows a paneled groin vault that would have been nearly impossible to create by hand on site. Here, it is quickly and simply being installed as precast elements, no framing required. In the second image, you can see the integrated HVAC, and the third image shows the attachment and joinery of the pieces. Stay tuned for more ceilings!
