At BAT Clay Studio, ceramics is more than a practice, it’s a community built around making. Founded by Meg Metzger, the studio was created to fill a gap in South Brooklyn, bringing much needed communal ceramics space to the neighborhood for experienced makers looking to create, experiment, and grow alongside one another.
Located inside Brooklyn Army Terminal, the studio combines professional workspaces, shared equipment, and an on site showroom featuring work made right at BAT. In this spotlight, Meg shares how the studio works, why she chose Brooklyn Army Terminal as its home, and what it means to build a creative space rooted in Sunset Park.
