Ginjan is at risk of closing.
Writing those words is incredibly difficult.
In 2015, we started Ginjan with less than $1,000 and a vision to build something meaningful. We chose East Harlem and Bed-Stuy because we believed in these neighborhoods. We wanted to create welcoming spaces where people could gather, enjoy a great cup of coffee, and feel at home.
For more than a decade, you have helped us build Ginjan. Today, we need your help to keep it here.
Both of our locations are currently closed. In Bed-Stuy, a car crashed into our storefront, causing significant structural damage and resulting in a vacate order. In Harlem, the city closed our location because we were unable to afford a license renewal after years of post-pandemic debt and financial strain.
We have only a few days of operating runway remaining.
This is an incredibly difficult moment. But we are not giving up.

We are asking our community to buy coffee now so we can reopen our doors and continue serving the neighborhoods that have supported us for so many years. For every $5 you purchase, we will give away one free cup of coffee. We'll begin distributing those coffees in Harlem and continue in Bed-Stuy once we reopen.
So whether you've been coming to Ginjan for years, stopped in once while walking down 125th, grabbed a coffee in Bed-Stuy, bought a bottle of Ginjan at a store, or have simply been rooting for us from afar—this is your chance to be part of keeping Ginjan alive.
Every purchase helps us address the barriers preventing us from reopening, support our team, and give Ginjan a chance to move forward. And the more coffee you buy, the more coffee we can give back to our community.
