In our Sperry & Rice Employee Spotlight this month is controller Kory Kent. Being ‘the numbers guy,’ he’s “in charge of all the accounting and finances. On a day-to-day basis, it's managing the cash coming in and the cash going out.

"What our stakeholders really want to see is that we are financially healthy. That's really my main job - to provide that news.”

When asked what attracted him to the opportunity to work at Sperry & Rice, Kory said “My favorite thing about Sperry & Rice is that we're a collaborative team. We put our heads together and we just move forward. We kind of think with one head here.”

His proudest achievement has been accelerating receivables. “That’s a personal accomplishment for me, but it's really a team effort. And I've never had one of those Mondays when I was like, ‘Oh no, it's Monday again.’ It's just another day. Let's see what we got today. It feels more like an adventure than a place to work.”

Let’s meet Cassie Lovell in the June Sperry & Rice Employee Spotlight!

“I’m the Shipping Clerk at Sperry and Rice. I coordinate the trucks to pick up shipments from the facility.”

Cassie has been with Sperry & Rice since 2012 and was promoted to the shipping clerk position a year and a half ago. “My first position was working on the floor in vulcanizing,” says Cassie. “Running conveyor belts, working on finishing, really doing a little bit of everything. Then, I was the shipper working on the floor. Now, I’m the shipping clerk.”

Cassie’s favorite thing about working at Sperry & Rice is learning new things. “My managers help me learn every day and I try to pass that along when I help with training new employees,” she says. “Every day is different because there is always a different way to make something. You won't be doing the same job every day.”

Cassie loves the culture at Sperry & Rice. “Everyone is laid-back and friendly! You can tell that people want to help you and that’s what makes working here so great.”
