I once saw a FB post from an alleged sound engineer, it read, "Got the acoustic panels hung in the studio. This will stop the neighbors from complaining about my guitar amp being too loud." I have news for that person. The neighbors will still be complaining. Oh, and I won't be recommending you either.
Acoustic panels hung on your walls will not stop the sound from transmitting through them.
To isolate sound between rooms takes some major construction to make an impact. Not something you can usually do as a renter or might not have the budget for. But there are small things you can try. One way to start is to turn off all the lights inside your room and leave lots of lights on outside of it. Any where you can see light, usually under or around the door, sound will be able to enter also. Air leaks around external windows and exterior doors mean sound can leak through there also. So, start by plugging up those openings. And stop wasting your money on expensive acoustic panels for isolation.
