One of the biggest misconceptions about business development is that it's all about selling.

In reality, some of the most valuable opportunities are created simply by connecting the right people at the right time.

Several years ago, I recognized an opportunity between two organizations operating in different spaces but with complementary objectives.

One organization was seeking support for a large-scale project. The other possessed the expertise, resources, and capabilities necessary to help bring that project to life.

At the time, neither organization was actively looking for the other.

However, after evaluating each organization's goals, strengths, and needs, I believed there was potential value in facilitating an introduction.

The result was a relationship that ultimately led to millions of dollars in business opportunities and project work.

What made this successful wasn't a sales pitch.

It wasn't a sponsorship proposal.

It wasn't a cold email sent to hundreds of contacts.

It was understanding:

โ€ข What each organization needed
โ€ข Where mutual value existed
โ€ข How their objectives aligned
โ€ข Why the timing made sense

Often, the most meaningful opportunities don't begin with a transaction.

They begin with a conversation.

Hi everyone โ€” Iโ€™ve been working on a personal project recently that Iโ€™m excited to finally share.

Truthfully, itโ€™s something Iโ€™ve been organically doing for the past year or so, but I recently decided to formally put a name and brand structure around it. Introducing, FERNS & CO.

FERNS & CO. is my strategic consulting firm focused on helping individuals, brands, and organizations โ€” both in and outside of motorsports โ€” create meaningful opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and position themselves for long-term growth.

With my background and experience across business, law, motorsports, operations, and relationship development, this felt like a very natural direction to pursue.

A lot of the work Iโ€™ve been doing recently has involved brand development, business planning, deck creation, strategic introductions, partnership facilitation involving multi-million dollar collaborations and opportunities, driver consulting/counseling, and helping connect the right people and opportunities together.
