Public service announcement:

The Brownsville Police Department would like to inform the public of recent information it received. Two Credit Card Skimmers were located at the gas pumps of the Stripes located at 1400 Military Highway. We ask the public that if you recently purchased fuel at this location to please check your bank and credit card statements to make sure you have not acquired any fraudulent charges.

If you notice a charge that you did not authorize, please contact your financial institution about the charge so that you may file a claim with them and flag your account. Once you have informed your financial institution you will then need to file a report with the Brownsville Police Department, which you file online at www.brownsvillepd.com.

-The real SSA will never tell you to wire money, send cash, or put money on a gift card."

The Social Security Administration (SSA) scam is the number one scam reported to the FTC right now.
