CITY OF BROWNSVILLE
2026-2030 CONSOLIDATED PLAN PUBLIC NOTICE
PUBLIC NOTICE:
The City of Brownsville will hold a public hearing at the Brownsville Public Library Main Branch that begins at 6:00pm on Wednesday May 13, 2026 at 2600 Central Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78520. The public hearing will be held to receive community input on housing and community development needs for the 2026- 2030 Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is designed to help states and local jurisdictions to assess their affordable housing and community development needs and market conditions, and to make data-driven, place-based investment decisions.
As a recipient of federal funds awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Brownsville is required to develop a 5-year comprehensive plan for housing and community development to determine the types of projects that should be financed in the future with federal housing and community development funds. The Consolidated planning process serves as the framework for a community-wide dialogue to identify the housing and community development priorities that align and focus funding from the CPD formula block grant programs: CDBG, ESG, and HOME programs. The Consolidated Plan ( Con Plan) is a five-year strategic plan developed to determine the objectives that will be met over the next five years within the City of Brownsville using its CDBG, HOME, and ESG entitlement grant funds. The 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan strategizes anticipated funding, objectives, and outcome goals for the 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030 Program Years. Each program year of the Con Plan coincides with the City’s fiscal year, which is October 1 through September 30 of each calendar year.
